    Question.

How did Rhodes climb so fast in the WWE?  He was great in AEW and sad to see him go because he obviously has talent.

I think just based on reputation he climbed pretty fast. Kinda like AJ Styles when he debuted in WWE. He did win his first match when he returned against Seth Rollins and won the Royal Rumble. He also had a story of finishing the "story" against Reigns.

I read the backdrop of him because when he was in WWE prior he was low tiered.  He went to Japan and rebranded himself and boom, he took off.  It also said when he got away from Stardust(rebranding) his career path changed.  I had to look that up as I thought Stardust was  His fathers wife or the gal he used to have in his corner, lol.  Bad look on the Bowie thing he had going on.

I do remember him wrestling w that torn Peck muscle and was blown away that he did.  That was a friggin cool moment.

So good for him and I'm glad people dig on him.

WWE has released some wrestlers today, so far:

    Dolph Ziggler
    Elias
    Mustafa Ali
    Shelton Benjamin
Cedric Alexander (not officially yet but Shelton's gone so...)
    Top Dolla
    Aliyah
    Riddick Moss
    Emma
    Rick Boogs

Guess Dolph will probably go to AEW to team with his bro.

  • I watched AEW last night.  MJF had a HYSTERICAL promo before his match.

His actual match he looked off though.  He may really have been hurt and that Samoan Joe did some crazy moves on him.  Kudos for him making the match look good.

Ray Fenix beat Moxley, didn't see that coming?

Sammy beat Jericho, this I saw coming.  Sammy is a fan favorite.

    Mox apparently got a concussion

    Few more WWE releases:
    Dabba Kato
    Shanky
Maximum Male Models (Mansoor and Mace)
    Dana Brooke
    a few NXT wrestlers

Surprised that Cedric Alexander is still on the roster. Same with Robert Roode (although he's injured).

I've never watched AEW but from following along online a bit, this seems to be the case. Great comparison with TNA too. A lot of people give it the WCW comparison, and while WCW was a "retirement league" of sorts for the likes of Hogan, Nash, Savage, and Piper, it was also a breeding ground for some real future stars like Jericho, Guerrero, Mysterio, Booker T, and Big Show. AEW doesn't seem to have any talent with that sort of potential.

You're nuts.  One of them went over to WWE already in Cody Rhodes.  He changed his look and put in some serious work and is LOVED now.

MJF is an absolute gem of a talent.

Orange Cassidy went to new heights after that blood match he had.

    Adam Page is stellar.

Wardlow, Kip Sabian, Kenny Omega, Darby Allin, John Moxley, Jungle Boy, Sammy Guevara, Best Friends, The doctor Britt Baker, Hikaru Shida are all pretty damn good.

Adam Copeland (Edge) made his AEW appearance last night. Kinda thought this was gonna happen but still pretty cool. Heard he got a loud "pop" from the fans.

Cody Rhodes was in WWE for years before that. It's not like he was some sort of AEW creation. Same with Moxley. You'll probably say that Rhodes wasn't over in WWE, and he was when he came back from AEW. So he's basically X-Pac. As 1-2-3 Kid, X-Pac was just another guy (as Cody was for many years). He went to WCW where he got over a little, but not really (like Cody in AEW). But when X-Pac returned, he was sort of a big deal with Dx, because everybody that returns is a bigger deal than when they left. Like Cody is now.

I don't know much about those other guys. As I said, I don't watch AEW (or WWE for that matter other than the major PPVs). So you think those guys you listed have the potential to be real stars in WWE like the former WCW guys I mentioned? Or is this their ceiling....being stellar or pretty damn good in AEW?

Cody dropped the stardust theme and worked in Japan I think?  Anywho he made his way back to the states and joined AEW and became huge.  He was nobody before in WWE.

The other guys are good, yes.  Check out MJF for sure.  I've been saying he and Cassidy were great from the beginning.  The others I mentioned are all climbing the ladder.

Theres some big dudes like Luchasaurus that I like too but not sure if he'd ever make it in WWE.
  • I've seen a few MJF promos online and yeah, he's good. I know he gets a lot of comparisons to The Miz (even as an insult from CM Punk in a promo), but it's not like Miz invented the "cocky asshole wrestler" persona. Haven't seen any of MJF's matches though.

He and CM Punk truly do not like each other.

not really no. Maybe when he first came back. That crowd reaction was one of the loudest i've heard. His second time back I didn't care for at all.

There are rumors that CM Punk might sign with WWE and could make his return at Survivor Series in Chicago. It would make sense, I don't really care if he returns, but leaning towards no. WWE doesn't really need him. \

Fastlane looked like a decent PLE last night. I was out and didn't watch it. Most of the babyfaces won which was surprising. Also Carilto returned. I was also surprised that in AEW FTR lost their titles to Big Bill and Ricky Starks.
