40 years. Damn. Which he had a different finishing move so he wouldn't have had to get hip replacement and back surgeries. Probably could have wrestled another 10 years.

Yeah he mentioned that he didn't like his finishing move and said he should have used something with his arms instead since he had the 24" pythons like a full nelson or backbreaker.
I’ve heard him sat he wished he did a sleeper, which is similar enough to a full-nelson as far as what the person executing the move has to do.

I always felt a powerslam would’ve been a good finisher for him. But you can’t do that to everyone (Andre for example). That’s why the legdrop was such a good finisher. Same with the stunner…you can do it to anybody.
you are right it was the sleeper. I couldn't remember
yeah, sleeper is too anti climactic (except for Million Dollar Dream-the way DiBiase executed it was way better than any other sleeperhold-it was more violent). never liked it as a finisher much. It's almost better utilized as a non-finisher (the dramatics of the one in the hold lifting/keeping their arm up on the 3rd go). I like the immediacy/shock value of the DDT or rock bottom or stunner or "PPV/desperation" HBK superkick. with hogan and the leg drop, you knew he'd never miss. and he would always get the 3. as absurd a finishing move as it was (like the people's elbow). it was the perfect arc to the 80's style super-face wrestling match.
Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake had an effective sleeper as well. Esdpec8ially afterwards when he he would give his opponents haircuts

Him missing the legdrop against the Warrior at WM6 was the single most shocking thing I ever saw (up until that point in my life).

And I didn't think it was that absurd. There was a WWE DVD of the greatest finishing moves of all-time and William Regal was one of the talking heads. He put over the legdrop nicely (within kayfabe). He's said (paraphrased since I haven't seen it in years) "First off, it's always preceded by a high impact move such as a lariat, slam, or boot to the face. And then you have this 300 pound man with tree trunks for legs getting massive elevation and landing on your face. How can one be expected to kick out after something like that?"

Maybe a powerslam could've been a good move for Hulk. But it's not a move you can do to everyone (Andre, Bundy, etc.). The legdrop was perfect for him, but yeah, the impact from him leaping and coming down on his tailbone has hurt him. Have any of you guys been in a wrestling ring before? I won a radio contest when I was like 9-years-old and got some behind the scenes access at a TV taping in 1993. There was a few of us. We got to meet Shawn Michaels and run the ropes like an hour before doors opened to the arena. That mat is HARD. I can't even imagine doing a legdrop every night, let alone doing one off the top rope like Jeff Hardy used to. That completely insane

So far only RAW will stream on Netflix. Their Peacock deal ends in 2026. I hope they continue with Peacock. $10 a month for PLEs is a good deal. Smackdown will go to USA network. And NXT the CW.

His later claim to fame was the slam to leg drop though. During WM3 against Andre there was the hype of "can he slam Andre" because it was the prerequisite to the leg drop.

that was mainly with just the superheavyweights. even after andre and bundy, he still used the boot to the face as the move prior to the leg drop.

Not a single word of that lawsuit was surprising. Especially the allegation that he shit on her head. "Of course he did," I thought.

Royal Rumble tomorrow night. Hopefully it's decent. Not sure who's gonna win though. I thought Cody at first but CM Punk makes a little more sense now. Maybe have Cody win at Elimination Chamber and choose Roman as his opponent to finish the story. Women's a lot of people are saying Becky which I'm fine with.

I just looked at the Royal Rumble card and had no idea that Logan Paul won the U.S. Title. He's defending against Kevin Owens. That should be really good. I've only seen Paul's PPV matches, but they've all been shockingly good. That should be a cool match.

I'm in a Royal Rumble pool and the numbers I got are 2, 15, and 16. Not bad draws.

Back in the 80s, I was a big WWF fan.....one thing that always confused me was the fact that there were 2 different men's championships...the heavyweight champion, and the intercontinental champion.....could never figure out the difference!

haha the same thing confused the hell out of me too. then I realized one was just the "main guy title" and the other was a "future main guy title". Intercontinental literally means between 2 or more continents. haha

My explanation has always been that the world champion is, of course, the champion of the world. And since the IC Title was preceded by the North American championship, I’ve considered the IC champ to be the champion of North and South America. That’s contrived and ridiculous of course…but so is pro wrestling right?

yeah he beat Rey Mysterio a few months ago. This might be his first title defense, so he's probably not losing.

Royal Rumble pool would be pretty cool. How much was it to enter like $5? 2 spot is pretty good, not sure about the mid numbers though. Also is it just for the men's RR or the women's as well?

$10 per spot and I grabbed 3. My friend puts it on every year. And yeah, it’s for both the men’s and women’s matches. Don’t sleep on 15 and 16 though. They can be good spots for a Cody Rhodes or CM Punk. Though I’ll probably get a goof like Miz or Kofi.

I have a feeling Hogan is going to be in this. Just a hunch. But it’s in his hometown, he’s been hyping it, and it’s the 40th anniversary of Hulkamania.

    Counterpoint: He’s 70.

i can see that. He ain't winning it though. Wonder what other surprise entrants we will see? Maybe Matt Cordona (aka Zach Ryder) or Andrade. Apparently Jordynne Grace (women's TNA champ) is rumored to be in it. Sasha Banks or Naomi maybe in the women's?

I agree, women's RR was better but men's wasn't too bad.The other matches were ok albeit kinda predictable. Logan winning by DQ was kinda surprising though (thought he would cheat his way to a victory).

I watched it.  First time I watched since last royal rumble.

Really boring.  No personality or fun in most of the wrestlers.

I was surprised at how slow, rigid, and terrible cm punk is.

The only ones worth a damn are Logan Paul and Dominic mysterio.  Some of the women too

I agree that Punk looked pretty bad. Paul/Owens was definitely the highlight and I loved the creative DQ finish. Maybe a ladder match for a rematch?
