I thought the race was entertaining.  Max had a heck of a drive and the tire and pit strategies made it worth watching. Title hunt not over yet.  If Ferrari can put something together for Japan the end of the season could get interesting.

I've pretty much thrown in the towel on this season.  Hambone is driving too well and his machinery has been bulletproof and Vettel has squandered too many of the chances he's had.

  • Vettel  continues to drive with immaturity .
He has thrown away a very good chance this season because that Ferrari has been his best car for a while this season.
But panic at the vital moment has seen him blow it.
Hamilton must be well happy to have it in the bag because at the half way stage it was so close.
Everyone loves Kimi and there is a big fuck off to the boss of Ferrari.
Max is so good to watch. Drives like we all would want to.

Was at the race.  Looked like another Hamilton run away.  Great race.  Suspect that Hamilton could not go the distance on the same tires as Kimi with fewer laps on them. I think a Dubai prince paid off Mercedes and Ferrari to have the title won in Abu Dabi.

Mercedes changed their rims back for the race as well, fearing a post-race protest by Ferrari.  They had implemented a rim with holes in it which allows better temperature control for the tires, and Ferrari asked the FIA to look into it (which they did, and gave the green light to) as Red Bull implemented something similar a few years ago (2015?) which were banned.
The previous spec rims probably didn't help their tire management in the race.

Meh.  Ive seen Hambone go 49 laps on softs.  In any event super exciting to see Kimi win.  The crowd was nuts. 70% Ferrari fans.

I think Vettel also said they reverted to a previous spec car, i.e. they removed a bunch of updates that weren't working.
Everyone loves Kimi, I hope he wins the remaining races!

Already booked my place for Austin next year.  What a fun time! We shall see if Montreal is in the cards.
Looking forward to see how the last three races play out.

Man the mercs have been so slow the last two races. Destroying tires like gummy bears. Is there a chance that Ferrari could win the constructors championship?  Will the mercs now show up and dominate the next two races now that the drivers championship is decided?  At least there is a reason to watch.  That Mexico track is strange. Rant over.

If anyone plays the F1 game on PS4, F1 2018 is on sale for $30 on the playstation network.  I played a little last night and can happily confirm that the understeer issue present in the 2017 game is gone.  I was able to beat my best lap 2017 time in Australia within 10 laps with making zero changes to the car setup.  In 2017, it seemed almost impossible to get through turn 15 without running off the track within five laps, even with making aggressive down-force mods in the car setup.

The game is much easier using a PS4 gamepad as well.  I've yet to use my wheel yet.
