    So if the tax doesn't benefit you directly,  you shouldn't have to pay? As an example,  only retired military should pay for their retirement?  Only people that have called the police should pay for the police?

    I fail to see why their retirements need to be funded by the taxpayers, they did those jobs and received pay and benefits for doing them.

    I think benefits for government employees should be consistent with the average benefits with private companies.  Government needs to compete for talent like everyone else.  Pensions are going away for private companies because in the end they'll crush your business if times ever get bad and are replaced with matching 401k/profit sharing contributions.  I'm all for freezing the pension plans and converting to defined contribution plans for government workers.
