RIC had issues with his energy recovery system and was running with only 6 gears.  How could Vettel and Hambone not catch him?

^ That happened halfway through the race. If you recall, Horner told him to control the pace (plan B or sth like that?) from round 2 or 3. I guess that's called strategy. :unamused: Vettel had power issues too towards the end of the race, while Hamilton was constantly complaining for graining at his left front tyre. At least, Seb should have tried to attack.

I'm back at home after another great week of Montreal Grand Prix vacation. I've only missed one Grand Prix in Montreal since 1995. This year's race was a bit of a bore, but the week in Montreal was great. It started out with two nights of U2 on Tuesday and Wednesday. Followed by fine dining on Thursday, and then 3 very enjoyable days at the track. I'll be renewing my seats (I've had the same seats for 19yrs now), and going back for my 23rd Montreal Grand Prix next year.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot that I bumped into Carlos Sainz on Wednesday night on my way to the U2 concert. My wife and I seem to get a little F1 celebrity experience every year. One year, I was late to a dinner party at The Ritz. All I knew was that the guy hosting the party was named Stewart. So when we got there I just said the guys name is Stewart. We were then escorted and mistakenly seated at a table where Jackie Stewart was entertaining a large group of people... I love the Montreal Grand Prix!

I was there and in the paddock.  Got the call Friday afternoon.  Boring race but a great time.  Got to meet Ocon in the paddock.
And as always, Saturday night in Montreal was so much fun!

Yeah that was Kimi's best race in a while.  Good to see him making passes, and even on some good drivers.  Much less of a parade than I expected, but having a Ferrari last on the first lap will do that.

Good race. Exciting beginning and end. Love that we have three back to back before the break.

     B)

Lot of mechanical failures in that race!  Was pretty much it's only saving grace.  Very surprised Vettel pulled a pass on Hamilton.  As a Ferrari fan those Mercedes failures salvaged our race.
Also Hambone needs to stay off the radio when things aren't going his way.  He comes across like an ego the team have to stroke and babysit whenever something goes wrong.

Ferraris have pace regardless of what happens with Mercedes.   Yeah Hambone is a bit of a diva, but he is not wrong. The engineers need to be on top of their shit.

How does anyone see them as slow. It's the fastest  cars for years. Anyhow. Hamilton was crusing until his team fucked him up.  Oh well it's a team game in the end. And this week didn t all pull I'm the same direction

They do have pace but the recent Mercedes upgrades have clearly put them back on top. I think most teams were caught out by the increase in temperature for the race, and no one had any idea how the soft tires were going to perform in those conditions (as evidenced by how fast they were wrecked on most cars).  Hammy is arguably the fastest driver in the sport, but when things go wrong he seems to go a lot nuttier than anyone else.
I wouldn't mind the points staying this close until the end of the year.

I don't think I have ever seen Kimi race that aggressively.  Amazing race. Ferrari should win the championship this year.  Cars are fast and they have better drivers than Mercedes.  Red bulls seem to have lost some pace.

Alonso leaving F1 (for good?) at the end of this season.  Sucks for us fans.

Sad part is that there are really only 4-6 cars with a chance of winning and the #1 divas at Ferrari and Mercedes don't want the competition. Alonso will probably go to Indy and try to complete the triple crown with the 500

There are going to be either red or silver cars on the podium with a red bull mixed in every once in a while.  I don't blame Alonzo.  You can start the Mercedes at the back of the field every race and they will be in the top five within 10 laps.  As a competitor it must drive him nuts to putz around in an inferior shit-box with no chance of winning.  Most F1 races are won in the first few turns.

And Indy Car is by far the more competitive series (they actually make passes!)

Alonso should of got a drive at red bull. Then we would see. He is obviously  world class and he never should have got in a McLaren .
