That was great!  What are the chances someone will be able to edit out the actor dialogue for .mp3 purposes?

Maybe this can get released as an official download for charity a-la "My City of Ruins"...

I think it's as simple as the Oscars asked while the modern Grammys probably never would.

Why the Oscars though? :i_dunno: He should do the Grammys this year.

Guitars aren't allowed at the Grammys anymore. Great idea though!

it was so well done on such a big stage..  its always really easy to put these types of things under the microscope and nit pick and i cant see anything wrong- the execution, the intent, the occasion - he was perfect..

Great job. I know he is a professional but wonder if he gets nervous waiting around knowing he has to perform soon. Either way chills watching it.
Given how many millions of people were watching live around the world, this would have to be the biggest crowd Ed has ever played to. And it was a cover, with Tom's guitar, at the most emotional part of the night...
I think anyone would get nervous at that!

9/11 tribute I think was bigger.

    We miss you, Tom.
  • I'm so glad it was Eddie who did the tribute, and how wonderful that he sang a song by his friend Tom Petty, and also played Petty's guitar. For some reason, I didn't realize it was Tom's guitar, til someone on here mentioned it. Kudos to Eddie!

I flipped back and forth between the awards and Speed which was showing on Cinemax. A best picture snub if ever there was one!

    Was that Benmont?
    It was Brendan O'Brien.

what ever happened to eddie vedder?
I’m not really sure what this means but I’m guessing your bashing Ed for doing the oscars?
Number one, why are you even here in the fan club? This should be a place of a positivity. I’ve never seen a fan club that has members that constantly hate on the band. You must just be one of those members who pay their fee just to get tickets and merchandise and flip them on ebay.
Number 2, Pearl Jam has evolved so much over the years it’s incredible. As a band and as individual artists. They all have separate carreers along with being part of one of the greatest bands in the world. Ed was asked to do this and I’m pretty sure it was an honour for him to sing a Tom Petty song, with Tom’s guitar, on that stage. Media whore??? Really??? Yup I’d put him right up there with the Kardashian’s.....get a life bro.

Positivity, is that required by the 28th amendment?

Eddie Vedder is more like Han Solo. Too bad Harrison Ford wasn't in the house (Blade Runner 2049 did better last night than The Last Jedi!).

True, but Chris has contributed several original songs to films over the years. Not sure about Tom Petty though
  • Did he play another song during the commercial break?  Didn’t look like he was leaving as they cut out?  Anyone?

Yeah, obviously, but he has contributed to soundtracks and also Chuck Berry was mentioned. the oscars often mention significant musical deaths, but maybe they had too many movie industry deaths so it would have run too long.

I think it's covered by the one commandment of the Church of Pearl Jam.
