He has friends in another artistic medium and paid tribute to a friend. What a monster .

All of the musical performances at the Oscars tonight absolutely sucked. I don't know if it was an ear piece problem or something, but they were all very flat.

Then Ed comes out there and KILLS it!

That man has a really special talent. We have to treasure every second we get to enjoy it.

BTW, for all of the people complaining about a lack of a Chris Cornell mention, I think it could be that he is too emotional about it to make it through it, and that's why he chose a Petty song instead. However, I do think he should have been listed in the video at least! C'mon Oscars! He has way more of an involvement in film than Tom Petty, with all of his soundtrack work and stuff!

If you haven't seen this already, it's more than worth your time. This is the evidence behind my reasoning:

Great job. I know he is a professional but wonder if he gets nervous waiting around knowing he has to perform soon. Either way chills watching it.

I’m not really sure what this means but I’m guessing your bashing Ed for doing the oscars?
Number one, why are you even here in the fan club? This should be a place of a positivity. I’ve never seen a fan club that has members that constantly hate on the band. You must just be one of those members who pay their fee just to get tickets and merchandise and flip them on ebay.
Number 2, Pearl Jam has evolved so much over the years it’s incredible. As a band and as individual artists. They all have separate carreers along with being part of one of the greatest bands in the world. Ed was asked to do this and I’m pretty sure it was an honour for him to sing a Tom Petty song, with Tom’s guitar, on that stage. Media whore??? Really??? Yup I’d put him right up there with the Kardashian’s.....get a life bro.

Such a simple (well done), cool thing for him to do and so many people just want to find a reason to complain about it.

People who are upset by what Ed did last night need to take a long, hard look at themselves.

It is amazing how many people overreact the instant Ed or the band does anything even remotely outside the box.

Why the Oscars though? :i_dunno: He should do the Grammys this year.

Guitars aren't allowed at the Grammys anymore. Great idea though!
