The Gun Thread

So, it was suggested on AMT to begin a pro-gun thread over here. Well, here it is:

If you have/want guns and you want to talk about it, this thread is for you.

So we have a segregated forum. Not bad.

I have a 9 mm. I'm not a gun guy, I have it just in case it's needed. I'll chat away with you here.

Yes you can, if you want to talk about the politics of being pro-gun. The AMT is for current events, news, politics, etc. This isn't a current events topic any more than a thread about hair and beauty tips is. That's why this is a good place for what you are wanting to talk about. Guns without the politics belongs in AET. :)

Nice collection! I'd like an M1 Garand but I know it would just be a safe queen.

Might be looking for a new pump action 12 gauge soon.

The garands are my favorites to shoot. No way it would be a safe queen.
I still need a sks, ak47, and tommy gun to name a few.

I find myself shooting handguns mostly. .22, 9mm and 44 Mag.. I reload for the 9mm. That has saved me a ton of money and I can produce match-grade rounds. I have the dies for .38 Spl./.357 Mag., .44 Spl/.44 Mag., and .308 Winchester but I haven't had the time to work up loads for any of those yet.

The .44 Mag. (S&W Model 29 w/ 8 3/8" barrel) gets a lot of range time. We have been having issues with bears locally so I'm making a point to stay proficient with it.

Oh yeah. I have a Benelli that is hopefully getting a feeding issue taken care of at the factory. I'm looking for somewhere to shoot skeet but none of the local ranges have facilities for shotguns.

Dn't bother with the SKS and Tommy Gun. SKS you have to convert to a banana clip to have any real fun with it and the newer TG's are nothing like the original full auto's that shot 45's. Full auto versions are EXPENSIVE to shoot!!!

Now the AK, ah the AK. You have a ton of really cool pre bans you could buy, under folder, paratrooper, side folder. All come with bayonets. Cheap to shoot, buy Russian surplus ammo.

As for the Garand they can be had for cheap because they are mostly made from parts of other guns. If you ever find a matching rifle BUY IT and put that in a safe. It's worth thousands.

My brother had a newer Auto-Ordnance Thompson. It was cool to behold and fun to shoot. However, fit and finish was lacking, ergonomics sucked, it was heavy and kind of impractical.

If you're looking to have representations of the WWII guns, no collection would be complete without a Thompson.

If you're going that route then you'll want a grease gun. Good luck finding one of those too. The stamped metal and finish was basically a throw away gun. Still really cool though.

Dudeman did the TG have the drum or just the stick mag? I know they make a reproduction mag that holds less rounds.

His had stick mags. Thirty rounds, IIRC. He sold that gun back to the dealer and bought a WASR AK-variant.

I wasn't very impressed with that, either. Short LOP, rough assembly and not accurate. I know some AK's are accurate but I haven't shot one yet.

He has a Browning BAR Longtrac in 30.06 that shoots like a laser.
