Yeah, that's sick. Make him give a ton of money to the victims AND do the max time. That would be fair.
I can't be leave they allow people to buy their way out if prison time. That should be illegal.

Yeah, on the inside he'd be toast. On the outside, he'll never be able to live anywhere in the US normally anymore. I personally believe he'll pay the cost at his death. Special furnace for these folks.

Hopefully it was done with the victims in mind, and with their blessings.

I don't know why they did it in this case specifically, but I imagine that both sides just wanted to get this done and over with. The prosecutor may want to protect the victims from having to testify and be cross examined, and the defense just wants it over with, since they likely know they can't win based on the case that was built.
