I know it's not impossible, but how - being married to and having children with someone, living your life with them - is there absolutely NO inkling that something is amiss?

Whether or not he violated his own children (haven't seen mention of this at all, surprisingly), those kids are gonna need some kind of therapy over time.

Yeah, it is weird that these people can live their life and pretend to be something they are not.
I remember when I was a kid, one of my classmate's dads tried to come on to some teenage boy who was during yard work for him. the kid beat the shit out of him with a golf club.

I mean this guy was married for a long time, had three kids, coached baseball, ran a popular local restaurant and was respected in the community.... no one had any idea what was going on.

From what I understand it is up to the courts to accept this plea deal. At least that is how I read it.

Does that mean if the courts reject it, that Jared will then have to stand trail, and if found guilty, he could get 30 years? Actually 20-30 years each, on a couple of different charges?

Just offering this for perspective- I'm definitely in favour of heavy sentences for both. Obviously, much heavier than what we frequently witness for ending someone's life.

As one who was molested as a child, I feel the crime / criminal is unforgivable - yet, over time, found a way to forgive that piece of shit so I could achieve peace of mind in life and in myself. And I have. Anger still resides, and I expect it'll always be there - though not eating away at me, more like providing strength.

Receiving a hundred grand would've been nice and all, and paid for the years of counseling I experienced as a young woman, but really...would've LOVED to see that motherfucker jailed for life. And then some.

Minimum five years? Max not even thirteen? (oh the irony. And fuck that)

I'm always shocked how many women have been abused by pigs. I say 'pigs' because 'men' is simply not fitting.

One girlfriend in particular carried significant baggage from her ordeal as a child. Outwardly, she was a very confident, happy, fun, great looking woman who carried herself well, but she harboured pain.

I never came across the 'friend of the family'... but I really wanted to. It's best I didn't I guess.

Yeah, I (as someone with little experience in the realm thankfully) also thinks this guy is skating away pretty lightly, even with 12.5 years.

It seems that Fogel's cartel here was in direct contact and involved with producing content... as well as Fogel himself having relations with minors (14 I think?).

And them his lawyer making it all about Fogel would be pretty insulting to victims on top of the deal they made for themselves.

Yeah. I had two girlfriends that were abused as kids....that means it is much too common
it is unbelievable... it makes me scared for my own daughter...
obviously I watch out for her but you can't be with them all the time....
I would hate to think of what I would do to such a sick fuck.

what's sad is in most cases it was someone who was close to the mother.
and sometimes they told them and they didn't believe it...
I can't fathom letting something like that happen to my kid.

It gets me beyond riled that this (and, dare I say, worse) still happens to so many, around the world. With all the information out there and the means to receive it, you'd think (hope) it'd be lessened. Paradoxically, that technological methodology also opens the door to create and share such filth.

I'm fortunate that in my relationships, I didn't seek out someone who would perpetuate such actions - as some sadly do - and am blessed to live this life with a man who loves and respects women in general, and me specifically. Wish more, all, were so lucky.

(Must add that it's truly heartening to see - and know - some absolutely fine men in this forum. Parent or not, you're great examples.)

I would think statutory is a lot lighter of a charge. You could have 2 willing participants with statutory.

Obviously at 12, there's probably not a willing participant.

IF as the atricle stated he paid for it, that means there was agreed upon terms. Not debating whether its right (its not) or even they are fully capable of entering into such an arrangement, but I posted a link to the NY law regarding age of consent a page or two ago. Will need to reread it myself.

I want beteer details on how many and age of each. Regardless the 17 yr old is out for that crime. That age can consent with whomever.

heres the text or the parameters of the law in NY. Other jurisdictions could vary. I am using NY's as a basis because the article Hedonist posted said NY.

What Is the Age of Consent for Sex in New York?
In New York, the age of consent for sex is 17 years old. This applies to men and women, and applies to both heterosexual and homosexual conduct.

However, as in many other states, New York has allowances for minors who are below the age of consent but are close to the same age. This close-in-age exception exists because statutory rape laws are meant to prevent minors from being sexually exploited by adults. It is not meant to punish individuals who are close in age for engaging in consensual, non-exploitative sexual conduct.

The close-in-age exception applies in New York in the older person is less than four years older than the minor and the minor. the exception does not apply if the minor is under the age of 15.
