Finally caught up on this show, so good. Here are some interesting articals on the mythology behind some of the cult/killings on the show I found on another site

i keep falling asleep during the 2nd episode. gotta stop watching it at 11:30 or so.

luckily each time i've attempted, i've managed to stay up through the scene with woody's girlfriend and the handcuffs......she is pretty easy on the eyes, eh? wow

I think it is too obvious for Cohle to be a suspect...from my perspective. I can clearly see why the current cops would think that but I'm thinking that Cohle is doing off the grid investigating. Someone else is def involved.

Agreed it would be too obvious and a few things from the last episode seemed to back that up in regards to him being the alleged killer

Cohle asked Ledoux "Why the antlers" which Ledoux smirked, why would Cohle ask that to him if he was in fact the killer?

When Francis was being interviewed by Cohle he said he met the Yellow King once so Cohle obviously can't be the Yellow King

Now the one thing I cant figure out is why does Ledoux have a tattoo that looks like MM on his chest?

Good points. Unless Cohle picked up where Ledoux left off....which I also don't think is the case.
    My guess thus far...
Cohle is not involved other than doing his own investigation in an unofficial manner. Like before he didn't want to "give up" the case so he's doing it himself on his own terms.
If someone "higher up" is involved, I wonder at this point who could it possibly be? For the simple fact that we haven't really seen any "higher ups" other than the governor and police captain guy. I'm thinking the governor might be involved somehow. He seemed like a religious nut, he approved the task force to take over the case, the gov and Cohle already weren't on good terms...that said, I'm not sure what connection he would have with Ledoux if any.
hahahaha....who f'n knows! Probably why this show is so damn good....you just don't know what's going to happen next!!

I wonder is he really doing it by himself or is Marty still working the case with him, maybe their whole "fight" in 2002 was a ruse

Also during his interview Marty said

"Remember what I said about the detectives curse the solution to my whole life was right under my nose that woman those kids i was watching everything else. Infidelity is one kind of sin but my true failure was inattention, I understand that now"

This indicates to me that someone directly in his life is involved in these crimes either his wife or his father in law but than again like you said who the fuck knows

That's a good point. I don't see how Marty is not involved in this still....or at least maybe up to this point. Perhaps he'll meet up with Cohle to see what he's been doing, tell him he's being questioned, then Cohle dumps all this new info on him and they work the case again unofficially.
I'm really curious to see what that altercation was between them. Part of me thinks it has to do with Marty's family (wife) but that also seems too obvious. Maybe Cohle was banging his slutty daughter! image
At this point, I'm guessing their "altercation" was a ruse.

I think Marty's wife went to that school. The original yearbook pic that Dr. Delight posted is no longer showing up, but she looked like the girl who then got photoshopped (in the 2nd picture that is still showing up).

Something is not right, obviously, with Hart's family. Wife's parents seem like control freaks, perhaps making wife go to the wild side.

Said it before, how is this going to all wrap up in just 3? more episodes?

I love trying to figure these things out, but I really have no idea what's going on! :))

I watched it again last night with my wife because she fell asleep on Sunday. Did anyone notice the final shot of Cohle in the school. They are showing him through a hole in the wall like he is part of one of those sculptures while there's a forrest on the wall. I wanted to know if anyone else noticed. I can't find it online anywhere to post it.

I think there is definitely going to be a connection with Hart's family.

going to be interesting to see how they wrap all of this up in 3 episodes

didn't notice it but will check it out if I see it on again. I think this show has a million little references like this. the one I noticed last episode that wasn't brought up and not totally sure what it references but was when Hart's daughters were playing outside and the older daughter stole the crown/tiara or whatever it was and threw it up into the tree. they showed it hanging there briefly. was wondering if it had something to do with the symbols from the murders. the circles or the weird triangle art pieces. like why show that if it's not some kind of reference or hint?

The girls crown in the tree just symbolized a passage of time for the girls. The crown was shiny and the ribbons were flat and colorful. Then the crown dulled, the ribbons frayed and some of them disappeared before they showed the girls grown up.

see I'm trying to see things that aren't there now which is why the show is so riveting. I swore it was going to be one of the symbols. I have to watch this episode again. going to be wild when everything is tied together at the end.

toward the end, cohle went up to a big tree that had one of those wooden things hanging from a branch, and a spiral looking thing at the base. Was that the scene of the murder? And if so, why would that evidence still be there? I probably missed something & might have go back and re-watch it myself.

I believe it was the original murder scene. I'm not sure if that wreath was part of the original evidence or not. It also looked like a portal, maybe to Carcosa with the black stars.

i knew they were interrogating that sick fuck.

    Who?

Clues def seem to be pointing towards the Governor and Lawnmower man.
The 2 current day black detectives are really interrogating Rustin Cohle ( McConaughey ).
At first they made it feel like they were more consulting with him .

Yes, but idk that Cohle is really a sick fuck.

If I remember correctly, the old school property is owned and operated by the Governors special program for helping kids or something. Lawnmower man and the Bird traps found inside the school are big.

I also found it weird that the evidence would still be there at the tree scene of the first murder. The question is going to be who was responsible for using the payphone to call the prison, being the last one to talk to the guy that killed himself.
And so you see, I have come to doubt

Who's the religious guy? I remember meeting him and thinking - oh, I hope the bad guy isn't the religious guy cause they do that all the time and it's such a cliche.

That being said, I love this show and don't want it to end. I feel like I did watching Band of Brothers. When it's over I want to sit down and watch it all from the beginning to see what I missed. And I love not knowing what's coming next.
