I am about halfway done with Tigana by Guy Gavriel Kay
He is such a great author. His writing style is so good. Such a contrast to the last book Ready Player One by Ernest Cline that i just finished. I enjoyed ready player one, but GGK has a way with words.Charlotte 00 | Charlotte 03 | Asheville 04 | Atlanta 12 | Greenville 16 | Columbia 16 |Seattle 18 | Nashville 22 | Ohana Festival 24 x2 | Atlanta 25 x20 -

Me too.... all I can say is wow.... steamy! The thing I like most about time is that it's not real. It's all in the head. Sure, it's a useful trick to use if you want to meet someone at a specific place in the universe and have tea or coffee- but that's all it is- a trick. There is no such thing as the past. It exists only in the memory. There is no such thing as the future. It exists only in our imagination. If our watches were truly accurate, the only thing they would ever say is "Now". That's what time it is. It's "Now". - Damien Echols0 -

Wow, this 50 Shades of Gray is really making its rounds. What is it people like about it? is it graphic? Sexcapades right?
Anne Rice's wrote a Sleeping Beauty Series quite a few years ago, basically erotica/porn and apparently its getting some recognition because of this 50 Shades hype. I read it years ago and it was pretty darned good.Pick up my debut novel here on amazon: Jonny Bails Floatin (in paperback) (also available on Kindle for $2.99)0 -

I haven't read it, but know two friends who did and said the writing is horrible. Twilight quality.
The Anne Rice Sleeping Beauty books are amazing - not the sort of thing I usually read, but I thought they were great. And very well written.0 -
I don't read Fiction. It's a waste of my time.
But I just finished The Kennedy Curse, and picked up Michael Lewis' Liars Poker and Ronald Kessler's bio on Joeseph P Kennedy, Sins of the Father. I'm on a big Kennedy family kick this summer so far."FF, I've heard the droning about the Sawx being the baby dolls. Yeah, I get it, you guys invented baseball and suffered forever. Since I last posted:
"The Wind Through the Keyhole" Stephen King. A+ for "Dark Tower" fans.
"Hitchhiking with Larry David" by Paul Dolman. Meh...definitely not what I expected. I think the guy titled it so that Seinfeld/CYE fans like me would get sucked in. Not awful, but not what I expected. I give it a C. If you're looking for Larry David-isms or Larry style humor (or humor at all for that matter), this is NOT it.
I'm now reading William Manchester's biography of Douglas MacCarthur. It's going to take me awhile (all Manchester's biographies are heavy), but its great so far.1998-06-30 Minneapolis

Well that's the thing...it sounded really interesting (I could see lots of funny Larry-lines in a hitchhiking scenario), but there's really very, very little Larry David in the book. There are quotes from him at the start of every chapter, and the author runs into Larry a few different times in the book, none of which are very funny. Agh...the more I talk about it, the less I like the book.
If you want to read it, I'll lend it to you via mail. But save yourself the money; don't buy it.
By the way, I'm heading out to buy season 8 of CYE today. My wife and I and my parents are BBQing and having a marathon tonight. Can't wait!1998-06-30 Minneapolis
