Just finished. Not bad, but I had high expectations and I wasn't a huge fan of the authors writing style with the super short chapters and jumping back and forth in time.

It's a book to help you cope with the loss of a pet...and many of you know I lost Tabby Lu...and I've had a very hard time with it...this book is really helping...I highly recommend it to any of you who may have lost a pet as well!

Sorry to hear about that PJS, hope the book continues to help. A different sort of book recommendation for this thread, I like it.

Just heard Pat Conroy died. He wrote some good books. He had some issues with his father I imagine.

    leviticus at the moment
    chapter ten to be precise
and it makes me just wonder
its not easy to be holy or to
strive to be perfect as possible
    perfect as expected from
God but its easy to see what
is way out of place to his
    original setting and plan
    just ponder that
    does it really have a
    standing with God after
    even warning against such
    unholiness and indulged
    unresolving imperfection
i for one am no saint i do
    explore things i shouldnt but
in reason i indulge in the original
    purpose and not the contrary
    despite being over adventurist
    and unclean in my own
    correct habitat perhaps i may
    be disciplined but at least
    im not contrary to purpose
    and will...

How do you blokes feel about audio books? I've read (or I guess I should say listened) to my last couple books this way and really like it. I feel like I get through them faster and really like listening to them on the ride to and from work. Great way to pass that time.

But part of me feels like it's cheating my way through the book. Lol.

    Thoughts?

    yep you are cheating. :P

South of Broad holds the record for the worst father ever to be put down in written form.
All his books I read had fathers that were less than best.

Wow, I love the writing in this book. I'm teaching historical fiction to my students right now, and I'm using excerpts from it to model descriptive scene development. The imagery and figurative language beautifully capture the story's place and time.
