why would anyone take a 'real' gun?

    Good question, catefrances!

What puzzles me is why so much focus on guns. I live in a very conservative county and I'm fairly certain statistics will show that conservatives tend more often to be pro-gun and yet even here I doubt very many people carry concealed weapons. (True, if they're concealed I wouldn't know it but I think I'm right about this anyway.) How many people everywhere actually carry concealed weapons? A small percentage. Why proliferate something that only increases the possibility of violence. Why all this business about guns? I don't get it. (And yes, I've been through and lived in some rough neighborhoods.)

for when thunderous, enthusiastic applause for a nominee just isn't enough....we need something loud to shoot up in the air in celebration of mitt romney..

I don't know, a rally might be the perfect place to need protection
most especially with the hate and division in our country.

When the lady congressman was shot and the elementary school girl died along with
five others and 19 injured it would have been nice to have had someone around to have prevented that.
Instead it took two to tackle the shooter after all that damage was done.
One trained sensible person, a hero, may have prevented many deaths.

I wonder how those opposed to the license to carry would feel when they look down a barrel,
get that cold chill run down their spine, a split second and a one breath left,
wishing the f*** someone would come save their life, then hear the gunshot,
then realize someone licensed to carry just gave them their life back.
I wonder if they would be thankful?

    I would be...

Unless you live in a bad neighborhood, the need to carry a concealed weapon comes down to the fact that the person is a pansy who is scared of their own shadow. Give me a fucking break.

Edit: And I say this as someone who owns a shotgun. Locked in a safe and used for hunting.

I was robbed at gunpoint, they wanted nothing more than money, but if me or my friends had a gun, someone would surely be dead. So, yes, Gabby Giffords happens, and if someone had a gun, then perhaps some people there would have lived, but in an alternate world where people are pulling guns out when they get robbed, there would be a whole lot more deaths.

Actually, there was a man with a gun at the grocery store, he pulled it out and was about to shoot at a man he saw with a gun. He's glad he paused for half a second because the man with the gun actually WRESTLED IT AWAY from the shooter, so if he shot, there would have been 6 dead...

only robbery at gunpoint, only carjacking at gunpoint, only battery at gunpoint,
only home invasion at gunpoint, only rape at gunpoint ...

    those aren't only's for me

and the only thing these gun carrying scrum bags understand is another gun

again ... bad guys got guns good guys need um

glad they didn't shoot your best friend in the head cause it wasn't enough
    money for them ...
I have a friend who watched this happen and the scrum bag is out there somewhere
    cleaning his gun.

the purpose is self defense. You can argue that it isn't needed...I would disagree because put simply and unfortunately for anyone who has to carry them, it isn't needed until it is needed.

My point was the concealed part. I don't agree with, but can at least undestand why people think they need to, carry a weapon. My question is why the need to hide it?

just cause you know how to use a gun doesnt mean youll have the nerve to pull the trigger. you know what im saying?
If it is a matter of survival .... you pull the trigger....
    basic.

Responsible licensed owners of guns know what they are for.
They have hours of training and practice.
Many are former victims or their loved ones are victims.
Responsible licensed owners are ready to shoot and more and more people
are protecting themselves, their loved ones and their property.
    It's about time.

if you don't have the nerve to pull the trigger while you are being beat with a bat then I don't know what else you can do except take a beating and possibly die, but yes I understand what you are saying.

I think people would be surprised at what they are capable of once they are forced into a situation to save their own life or that of a loved one.

  • I'd say that in most cases of "needing" to use a firearm, fear takes over the "responsibe gun owner". One's a survival instinct steeped in millions of years of evolution. The other is taught over a few years. Guess which one wins?
