200+ years ago thimes were much more at a boiling point with the war to gain our freedom from across the pond then there were land grants that sparked off some conflict, there was a slavery issue that was dividing our country and the rail roads were buying up as much land as possible and those that did not sell were greeted with violence and forced off their property or killed and thru it all gus were the great equlizer.
I just don't understand why our crime and violance is blamed on guns ? it's messed up people that cause the problem not the guns.

Too bad you didn't learn to use punctuation long ago, cause I lost you after the crying and begging part
I was playing on pandora's words:
...and I stand by what I said in the rest of the post. If I was staring down the barrel of a glock, I sure as fuck wouldn't be very smart in reaching for a gun, would I? That would probably negate any chance I had of getting out of the situation without getting shot. If I wasn't staring down the barrel of a glock, that would mean I would have to be 'proactive' and draw first, right? I would never do that. Sorry if you think that makes me less of a man
And why do gun proponents so often feel the need to talk in sound bytes? Like they're cast in some b-list Western? You're a victim, I've got balls...Staring into the eyes of the other side of humanity....fighting back....pulling the trigger....parasites on humanity....rights given to us by God....good band together/justice will prevail blah blah blah......so weak:
too bad you can't read without a period at the end of a sentence bet you're great at puzzles
you didn't say what you would do maybe watch your woman get raped maybe stand there helpless
or watch your child get abducted before you get shot between the eyes ok you do that I will at least try to protect mine
yea that is less than a man who can not will not protect those depending on them

yep take a noble stance and do your part so there is no violence but let law abiding citizens be preyed upon
no blood on your hands though oh no
lmao easier to achieve you sound like a f**kin wall street report people are dying but be sure you stay noble and allow the violence to continue wtf if you are a man this is a sorry ass situation
I knew someone was going to bring something like this up. a fire extinguisher DOES NOT have the possibility of harming oneself or others fatally. pretty big difference I'd say.
yeah looks to me like the point was it is protection like a gun logical good sense protection
why the comparison
you made the idiotic remark saying owning a gun means somebody is living in fear
the point was not that a fire extinguisher should be thought of as a weapon just protection
just like a gun but yeah over your head i guess

I wear a seatbelt because I fear dying in a car accident. However, if that seatbelt were also used to potentially hurt others, I wouldn't wear it. I probably would walk instead.

back to the soundbytes. well done. You should have said 'raped by terrorists', and 'abducted by jihadists'; we all know terrorists are the ultimate trump card when it comes to fear-mongering.
Where did I say I wouldn't protect my family? I wouldn't do it with a gun. Because I wouldn't need to. Because there are waaaay less people like you in my country. As was pointed out in the article I posted - nearly every gun comes from a legit source at some point. So you gun people proliferate the criminal element. The odds of a home invasion happening to me are about 1 in 20,000,000....I believe there have been a grand total of 2 (in my city of over a million) in my lifetime. I'd put the odds of having to watch a female friend be raped in front of me, or my kids being abducted at around the same odds. Having a hand gun in my house would put my kids in more danger than not having one.
You guys all keep ignoring my point that a second gun escalates the situation. You have to draw first, or get lucky, for it to be effective as self defense. As Brian pointed out, most murders are domestic. why are we taught to give up our wallets in a mugging? Because even if the criminal is armed, they most likely do not have the intent to hurt you! They want your money! I'd rather let someone take my credit cards than fucking shoot them out of spite....but hey, I'm just a pussy Canadian. I should grow a pair and start shooting people over money and material possessions. That's fuckin justice YA!
so being a victim is ok with you great but some of us got more balls and good sense
people here aren't getting it cause you carry that doesn't mean you use
good decision has the gun there the same for if or when you decide you need

Well it depends....are the perps islamic extremists or not?
Seriously man, I have absolutely zero concern of this happening to my family. Why would I 'think about the worse moment I can come up with', then use that as grounds to arm myself? Holy shit, Pinhead, Jason, Michael Myers and a flock of zombies could show up at my house, I better get a gun! makes no sense at all.
I already addressed your question (I think it's a question).....the odds are not great enough for me to even consider arming myself for protection. It's not bullshit. The odds are literally millions to one. Why would I worry about that for even a second? it's like living in fear of lightning.
You know what I would really fear? My kids getting their hands on a gun I kept in my house, and shooting themself or a friend. I know I know.....locks locks locks.....my dad kept his porn collection in a locked file cabinet when I was a kid.....the lock made me curious. So I found the key. Besides, how effective is a gun when you have to unlock a cabinet, remove a trigger lock or whatever they're called, get your bullets (which should be stored separately, right?), load the gun, then make your big move?
How do you foresee your armed self-defense going down?.....criminal comes at you with gun drawn....then what? You count to three, pace it off, and draw? No. You get shot as you pull your gun trying to be a hero. What happens to your family after you've escalated the situation, and got shot in front of them?
if that isn't the definition of fear I don't know what is.
now you think fear is a bad thing wtf fear is what we learn from fear is like you said survival have you thought of what you will do to protect or you just gonna be stupid surprised when it happens lol from this conversation

i pick the latter you might be a whimperer i bet
a whimperer huh? That was rude. Are you even old enough to own a gun? I thought you had to be at least 18.
I've had several guns pointed at me. Three of us were robbed in the front yard of my friends house by three young men. As the robbers ran off, my friends roommate came out of the house with some kind of automatic hardcore looking firearm. I was so glad they ran off because if that roommate woldve come out 10 seconds earlier, it wouldve been like the OK Coral.
I've had one go off -- a shotgun -- missed my head by a few inches. Boy was I scared. It was loud. And immediately I thought to myself, "that would've been quick" I would have not had much reaction time to avoid being shot. The triggerman? my friend: a cop. haha, yes, I am laughing now, and yes, he is a cop.
So, if you ask what's the WORST moment I can come up with? It would be if I owned a gun and it got in the wrong hands. If we're using our imagination here -- it would be if I owned a gun and some kid stole it somehow and used to it kill someone.

there was a rash of strong arm robberies and even a few that ended in shootings for a good 3-4 years in a rather affluent neighborhood of Minneapolis called uptown (even though it is south west of down town)...the worst being someone, a 25 year old, who gave up his wallet and everything and was shot in the head anyway for no reason at all...how do we know this...because he was with his family who also were robbed but not shot...anyway...back to the intent of this...the last robbery I heard about, and granted that doesn't mean more haven't happened they just haven't been reported on with the veracity that they were, ended with a 60 year old marine shooting one of the suspects in the leg as they ran away...take that for what its worth...I am glad he shot him. They were terrifying a neighborhood and deserved what they got. There is no reason to think that crimes don't escalate without a 2nd gun. on the flip side, as Mr Smith said, "this...this is the business end. Don't ever point this at anything you don't intend to kill." If someone was pointing a gun at me I would be terrified. No one here knows exactly how they would react because your body shuts off and the flight or fight response takes over...it is why some people flinch when something comes their way and some simply move to the right or left...
guns can help, doesn't mean anyone who chooses not to carry one is a pussy...Personally, other than a home invasion, I don't bring my family to places that are known high crime areas. I would prefer to limit my chances of being robbed etc that way...and also moving out of the city, to a sleepy town...but not everyone has that ability or want to do it . I don't know why anyone would judge someone for feeling the need to carry a piece. Lot's of generalizations being made about people who carry and don't carry...why can't we just realize that it isn't your responsibility to deny someone else their rights whether you choose to exercise them or not...I don't carry, have a permit but I do not carry...got it for living down town and realized it was just easier to make a slow migration out of the city. I moved to the neighborhood referenced above...mistake...so I moved much further out...that was my response to crime...I wish everyone had those means but they don't. People in gang run neighborhoods live in very REAL fear every day...no one needs a seat belt until they need one...and no one needs a way to defend themselves until they need one ( I have always thought the 400 meter dash is the best self defense, and this coming from someone proficient in muay thai and jui jitsu)...if you feel you don't need a gun more power to you...and in Canada I would venture to guess you probably don't need one most cities you live in...I guarantee you there isn't as much gang activity up there as there is down here...one could say the gun culture of the states is to blame for the crime, while others looking at those same statistics on gun ownership could say the crime is the reason the gun ownership levels are so high...
End the war on drugs and you solve this gang problem. Don't see too many people dying in illegal alcohol smuggling operations anymore...but the drugs are the problem  ...not the "war" on it...
basically what I am saying is there is a chicken egg argument about crime and guns...but why does anyone think they have the ability to make negative assumptions about a large group of people who decide to carry or not carry? Fear comes from somewhere, irrational fear is what you have to worry about...and I think fearing cc permit holders is as irrational as living in constant fear without a reason.
But I am not in favor of banning something for everyone because a few cannot handle it. That is just a different philosophy I suppose...
that’s right! Can’t we all just get together and focus on our real enemies: monogamous gays and stem cells… - Ned Flanders
It is terrifying when you are too stupid to know who is dumb
- Joe Rogan

there was a rash of strong arm robberies and even a few that ended in shootings for a good 3-4 years in a rather affluent neighborhood of Minneapolis called uptown (even though it is south west of down town)...the worst being someone, a 25 year old, who gave up his wallet and everything and was shot in the head anyway for no reason at all...how do we know this...because he was with his family who also were robbed but not shot...anyway...back to the intent of this...the last robbery I heard about, and granted that doesn't mean more haven't happened they just haven't been reported on with the veracity that they were, ended with a 60 year old marine shooting one of the suspects in the leg as they ran away...take that for what its worth...I am glad he shot him.
It is terrifying when you are too stupid to know who is dumb
- Joe Rogan
no, I didn't say fear was bad. I was merely pointing out that you said it wasn't fear, but the above example is clear proof that it is.
