    at this point, i don't see how there is a season. they just ended three straight days of 10+ hour meetings and ended back to square one.

    Yeah, I think it's clear now that the season is shot. They'll never recover from it if they do can the whole season... A LOT of fans will split. People have been picky about the NBA's product for a while now anyway... this certainly doesn't help.

    season's not shot. one side will blink eventually. this kind of stuff happens in negotiations. people thought the nfl season was in danger plenty of times during that lockout.

    i'm down with a 50-ish game season like in '99.

    yep. last year they finally started getting back those fringe fans who 5 years ago wouldn't watch because "its all a bunch of thugs." those people will all be gone. the thing that sucks is, they need those fans.

    both sides are fault, but i'm putting this on the players now and going forward. they're not going to get a better deal. they need to know that, and if they don't, they have terrible leadership. when the missed pay checks start stacking up, the players will crawl back and won't even get close to a 50/50 deal. i just can not understand how they think they'll have more leverage as this thing goes on.

    I've noticed it rarely is the big market owners. I've read that Dolan, Mark Cuban and the guy in Miami are the ones who want to do a deal.

    From what I recall in the hockey lockout, it was the same thing with the guy owning Calgary being mentioned prominently as holding up a deal.

    I'm sure it was the same in the NFL.

    gf and i were talking last night....we came to the conclusion that you have to start by mid jan if you want to squeeze a half season in....maybe there are no east/west matchups, you play your division a bunch and one game agaist other teams in your confrence.

    This whole thing is a joke. Coming off one of the most successful seasons in the past 20 years and these assholes are going to pull this shit? They are completely killing any momentum that they did have. Sure, the big market teams will be fine once this is resolved, but this will probably make things even worse for the small market teams that were already struggling.

    The NFL and NFLPA met for 16 days in a row to avoid missing games. These jerkoffs cant even last 3 straight days.

    They missed the entire 2004-05 season and didn't resolve the lockout and ratify the agreement until July 22, 2005. They actually did it at the same hotel (The Sheraton on seventh avenue in New York) that the NBA was just holding its' last round of talks.

    What is the possibility that the league crumbles and is no more? Obviously not over night, but...

    I'm not saying I think that will happen, but if this keeps up the number of people that will get jaded will increase consistently... as evidenced by that article just shared.

    All the blogs, articles, etc that I've been reading about this it is overwhelming the amount of comments people leave takling about them not giving a shit. I've known for a long time that a good amount of sports fans have loathed the NBA and not watched it for years...

    You have to wonder how big this nail might be for a coffin....
