The Joe has sold out the past 23 games. They've taken some steps to make tickets very affordable. Mike Ilitch is pretty good about that as an owner. I've taken advantage of their student rush deals. If there are tickets still left on game day, I get a text saying X amount are available. It's $15 for upper bowl and $45 for lower bowl, at the box office on game day with a student ID. They don't have to know that I graduated in December of 2009, my ID doesn't expire until 2014.

97.1 The Ticket is worthless unless they are broadcasting a game. Sports radio is all about people calling up and bitching. People have a lot more to bitch about with the sports you mentioned compared to the Red Wings. Their go-to hockey guy isn't all that smart either. He's always screwing up pretty basic dates, facts, and stats. When they are talking hockey, they just stir the pot with stupid questions. I once heard them discuss the possibility of Kris Draper and Kirk Maltby's numbers being retired by the Red Wings. A conversation like that is designed to incite the casual, emotional fan. Anyone with a brain knows there is not an ice cube's chance in hell of those numbers being retired.

That may be so...but pre 1990 not to many people cared for the Wings. The Habs probably have had the longest run of continuous high caliber championship hockey from the 1950 until 1993, they supported the team really well over the last 18 year dry spell...just saying.

Draper might make it, based on his playoff beard alone. Throw in 17 seasons of employment by the Red Wings with that beard, and I think we may have a case for jersey retirement.

Well, duh, Canadians in general care more about hockey than Americans. No one is going to argue with you about that. The more highly populated Canadian cities are going to sell out every single game no matter what. The Leafs will always sell out every game at any price no matter how awful the team is. I want the Coyotes to be moved back to Winnipeg as much as the next person.

red wings weren't even 100% capacity this year. it's a shame what bad shape that city is in

They are either season ticket holders who let their seats go to waste for one reason or another, or just people in line for the concessions/bathrooms. I never go to the bathroom during a Wings game, because I know I'd miss half a period in line. I'm pretty sure they still have troughs on the men's side. It's a 20,000+ seat arena with 1 tiny concourse and inadequate facilities.

I'm just glad I can finally watch a Canucks game live on my tv instead of choppy online. Sucks not living in the city / province / state that your favorite team is in.

We're all but convinced. I hate hockey in the South. . . it's pointless. There's a reason that there are two or three racetracks in the north, and it's because we don't give a shit about racing. The fact that the NHL is still trying to make southern hockey a success just shows how oblivious they are. If I were the commish I wouldn't have a single team below the mason/dixon line.

center ice. 180 or so for the full season. pretty reasonable considering the nfl runs twice that for a 16 game season.

those numbers are shady. no way the flyers sold out every game during th 09-10 season, unless they were givig away tickets that didn't sell. there were big chunks of seats empty for the game i went to last season.

does that crazy dancing guy still dance at the red wings games? he's was behind the net in the upper deck i think on the visitors side.

I understand using head-to-head records to determine tiebreakers, I really do. But it still baffles me that wins aren't the first and foremost category to break the tie. I'm really not complaining, as I prefer Pittsburgh to play Tampa Bay, but it's hilarious that the Pens had the same number of points with a couple of more wins as the Flyers yet Philly gets the two seed.

Mo' Cheese. I haven't seen him in awhile. We're losing all our characters. Knitting lady passed away a season or two ago, and orange hat guy died this season. They upholstered his seat orange in memoriam.

By my count, there are exactly seven public urinals and two working toilets in that building. :( My buddy almost had to pee in a beer cup while waiting in line during the playoffs a few years ago. We found that it's easier to get a pass-out and go outside to the smoker's section and use the honey buckets.
