great AB by howard there. I thought for sure he was gonna chase one of those sliders. I think he does a poor job of recognizing situations like that. STL had 1B open so he's gotta know he's not getting shit to hit there.

now this bearded vagina needs to come through for once

    Walking dead man.

cool matchup of the 2 dudes with the worst facial hair in MLB

Nice job, Jays! I'll be outside warming the engine waiting to take you to the airport. I will pay for the airfare.

On an unrelated related note - I've been jonesing to go to Amsterdam for too long now.

I have actually been to Europe twice including Barcelona and love it. Don't speak Spanish but got by. Played soccer in Italy and Germany for about a month once and went to Spain for the hell of it. Great country.

Australia is awesome. I actually lived in new Zealand for 2 years when i was a kid and my family did a lot of travelling so I saw Australia quite a bit, would love to go back to both places although new Zealand is definitely first on my list.

I'm not one to get all over Manuel, but how do you not pinch hit for Blanton with the bases loaded yet instead wait till his one bad inning and lose the lead - and the game - to second guess yourself? Seriously. Blanton's better than his numbers suggest this year, but to keep him in just because he threw 87 pitches makes no sense to me. You need runs where ever you can get him yet you leave him in. I mean, wouldn't it do more for his confidence coming out after 6 knowing he gave up only one than to leave him in and maybe have "that one inning" like he has had? Doesn't make any sense.

I hear ya. valdez was the only RH he had on the bench. I probably would have hit for him there too.

this team just can't score runs. they really miss utley. he wasn't hitting, but he was still ALWAYS on base. and he at least makes pitchers work. the pitchers they've been facing aren't even breaking a sweat

Over and over they're swinging at first pitches - Rollins, Werth, and Vic specifically - and I just don't fucking get it.

It really is crazy to know how well Werth played in April and May to be where he is now. He still is leading the league in doubles. Crazy.

that is crazy. I read something that said he has only 4 homers (or something like that) since memorial day. and they were all in june. That might not be completely accurate, but it was something along those lines.

    this sucks

It really makes you wonder, especially with how many runs this teams has produced in the past, that a lot of it comes down to clubhouse chemistry and all that shit. Injuries, yes, and all that, but when you hear stories come out about Werth's bad attitude in the clubhouse and stuff. Just makes you wonder. I mean, this kind of production doesn't just evaporate into the blue.

how do you leave blanton in to hit in that situation? i realize wilson valdez is probably your best option.....but jesus h christ, he gives you a better chance at a base knock than fat joe who was just due to give up a bomb at that point anyway. way to be chuck.

make a move ruben. any move. make it now. right now.

dont buy into all that gossip nonsense dude. he didn't poke utley's wife either. if he did, chase seems cool with it, so who cares? shit like that's been going on for ages. they just didnt have twitter back in the 60's

Welp. I'm heading for Maryland. Maybe when I get back I'll be plum surprised.

    maryland loves their flag. it is E V E R Y W H E R E.

dude, that is hilarious. I went to college down there and I say the same thing. That state is corny as hell. And the drivers down there make the shitty PA drivers look good. Also, all the dudes wear those burkenstock (sp?) sandals and tuck their t-shirts in the front.

needless to say, I couldn't wait to get the hell out of maryland when I graduated.

the inner harbor is cool, but it gets old after a week.

i like maryland though. used to live in nova and spent a lot of time in md as well. i just don't understand the obsession with the flag. i got cousins in annapolis--that is one cool little town.

And it all starts up again.

Olney says Oswalt prefers to pitch in St.Louis and may not require his option be picked up to be traded there.

jim salsburry says phils wont add a pitcher at all if we cant get oswalt or harren.

just fucking get myers if those two pan out for christ sake. you'd owe him a little over a milliion bucks this year and it will take not a whole lot at all to get him.

    Haren isn't getting traded

At this point I wouldn't go crazy to try and add an average guy like myers or lilly...unless you can get them for next to nothing. Trade Werth's ass and start thinking about 2011.

I'm not giving up on 2010 yet, but it's not looking good. and they have to face arguably the best pitcher in the NL today not named halladay. awesome
