Which song got you into Pearl Jam? if you weren't there when they started out.

i was born in 1989 so i first heard them at about age 7, i remember hearing Alive on the way to the mountains in my dad's beetle, but the one song i remember hearing that made me want to hear more is Elderly Woman Behind A Counter In A Small Town.

All of Ten. Listened to on cassette in my friend's powder blue Ford Fairmont to and from school my entire senior year of high school (91-92). I can remember thinking I had never heard anything like Peal Jam before. . . my love for this band has only gotten stronger over the years.

Age six, flipping through channels. caught "Jeremy" on MTV. Hooked ever since. I remember at first thinking the band was called Jeremy.

Seeing the Jeremy video in 92 went out and got Ten. The songs though then that hooked me were Once and Rearview Mirror, had some pent up anger issues ;)

    Do The Evolution.

I'd borrowed Ten off a friend some months before, but didn't much care for it (BURN THE HEATHEN!!), and I saw the video for DTE back in the day when MTV played music videos. I didn't recognise Ed's voice as it sounded so different to Ten!

Revisited Ten, loved it and then bought Live on Two Legs, and the rest is history. :)

    Saw "Into the Wild."
    Loved "Hard Sun."
Bought soundtrack. Thought, "this Eddie Vedder guy is amazing."
Nephew says, "You know he's in a band, right?" (I didn't.)
Bought "Ten." Immediately bought everything else.
But the song that completely, totally hooked me was "Given To Fly" from "Live on Two Legs." And since then, so many other songs have sunk hooks into me that I am ruined for all other bands.

    Alive
Let's say knowledge is a tree, yeah.
It's growing up just like me.

Alive got me started, I heard it on the radio. But when I picked up Ten, I was not a fan of anything else. At that point in my life, I was a hair band guy, so the power of PJ hadn't hit me yet.

Then my buddy down the street brought over Dirty Frank and Alone. I revisited Ten and liked it much better.

How I really got the bug was when Vs. dropped. Dave A. really got a hold of me with his funkiness...you know, unplugged, MTV music awards with Neil, SNL and Letterman...

I always like Pearl Jam quite a bit, but once I heard Ledbetter, that was it. Lifer.
