He belongs in whatever that all star group Bill Simmons has a name for when a white dude has a black dudes name - like Khalil Greene.0 -

no matter who is in our starting lineup, starting rotation, or bullpen, we WILL go into a late may/june swoon.www.myspace.com0 -

This is true, but scoring once in the last 47 innings is atrocious. And barring any injuries Chase Utley WILL be a better player than Mike Schmidt.0 -

alright chief.
3 mvp's, 12 all stars, 10 gold golves, 548 home runs. as much as i love 26, i highly doubt he will come close to beating that come 2020 (ps-schmidt's batting average came against MUCH tougher pitching). but i will be more than happy to stay on top of it for you.www.myspace.com0 -

268 is 268. If you wanna get into the lightness of pitchers nowadays, the parks, steroids, then you can't look past Schmidt's admitted amphetamine use. I'll take a guy who averages around .300, hits 100 plus ribbies, scores 100 plus runs, 30 plus homers, 20 plus steals, leads the league in plunks, and an OBP that hovers over .400 over the span of 15-20 years over Schmitty. Utley will be a player compared to Rose. And that's as high as a regard as I can think of. The dude is the grittiest player since Rose. Gimme 8 Utley's in my lineup any day.0 -
everybody took amphetamines, everybody took steroids. Can we please move the fuck on now? I love the outrage from the media who didn't say a fucking work for 15 fucking years.0

i will take 8 THE GREATEST THIRD BASEMAN TO EVER PLAY THE GAME,, thank you. we'll see who wins.
come on dude. seriously. COME ON. i can see having this conversation 8 or 9 years from now. but dude...dude......you sound like my friend who tried, at great lengths, to argue that scott rolen was going to be the better all around player than schmidty back in 2001. just take a breath. think about what you are saying. think about schmidt did what he did for the better part of 2 decades on astro turf in a pitcher's era, then we'll talk. until at least 2016, this is a mooooo point. moooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. you're disrespecting mike schmidt here. 26 would tell you as much.www.myspace.com0 -
who am i, the fixer?
that is an awful quoting job.www.myspace.com0 -
Awful job. My point is not who he will be with this conversation, my point is saying all things considered, he would be. As of right now, he is the grittiest player in the game, the first Pete Rose since....Pete Rose. The most feared player in the Phillies lineup. And the point of why this was all brought up was because of what Howard's getting paid. If you wanna talk about moot points, then hopefully Howard proves us all wrong and makes the debate of his contract moot in five years.0
-
I don't think anyone is arguing if his career ended today that he would be better than schmidt. But if he continues to put up the numbers he is, and with that swing I don't see any reason he can't, there is a damn good chance he could be. This is no disrespect to schmidt, but Utley is a damn good baseball player.0

my point is let's talk about this in 2016. i had this same stupid argument in 2002 with my friend about scot rolen....yeah, didn't quite pan out. utley's great. i love him. he's my favorite player. but i'm disrespecting the game and schmidt if i say he's going to be the greatest of all-time 6 fucking years into his career...6 years of above average at best defense and batting in front of ryan howard and jayson werth. plus he's already had injury problems. it's way to premature to say what you are saying.www.myspace.com0 -
Fair point jeags, I just think utley is one of the best players in the league and has a swing that won't fail him, much like jeters semi slump proof swing. Agreed he has a long ways to go0
