i figured rather than making a yearly thread we could just post in one long ass thread bout the misery that is the new york mets :lol:

i like the bay signing alot if we get it done and now we really need a good #2. i don't know whats out on the market. maybe sign jason marquis or the cuban prospect aroldis chapman. i hope ownership isn't that clueless, but as the looks of it they are def clueless.

    I like Bay too..not sure about a #2 starter with both Halladay and Lackey off the market....they'll have to piece things together again....but without a doubt, they'll have to bring in some pitchers..

    Really can't blame Omar on this one though...they can't rid their entire farm system and Reyes who is still under their control for one huge Halladay contract....and the Coupons didn't want to spend the money for Lackey....that could have been a slamfuckingdunk..oh well..

    Anyone hear Reyes on Francesa Wednesday? I DVR'd it and watched it last night....the Mets were worried about him going on the show, but I think he did a good job clearing up a few things, like this notion that he doesn't want to play etc....

    Yeah he really put you guys over the top. Ya went from 2nd place in the NL East to......well....2nd place in the NL East. But Santana is pretty awesome. It'll be interesting to see what happens this year with the Mets healthy. It always is.

    A lot of bad things can be said about the Mets, but Santana has been nothing short of spectacular..solid as they come....I hope they get a chance to go head to head..

    it has nothing to do with omar. Its all the coupons and the lack of spending over da years. Look at the moves he made in the early 90's. He signs a buncha overpaid players who do shit. Did the same thing in 01 and se the franchise back years. He doesn't pay drafts picks what they are owed. Look at the moose bidding war between the yanks and mets. Fred didn't wanna pay the moose a million dollars more. Its the same thing with bay and holiday this year.

    The Mets finally signed their big fish for 4 years and $66mil with what sounds like a fairly easy vesting option for a 5th year.

    I won't get into all the reasons why this is not a good idea since Mets fans have had it so bad recently. Bay is only getting $6 million more from the Mets than he would have from Boston, bet he is kicking himself in the ass for not taking that contract.
