I don't know what I can say that has not already been said. It was my 6th show and it is competing with Dusseldorf 2007 for the number 1 spot. I cried during Light Years. It was exactly 7 years and 1 day ago my father past away and I have found so much comfort in that song. Hearing it live was a wish come true and a truly overwhelming experience.

    WOW!

The shoe was great. I was there with my friend, who was at his first PJ show (my 3) and he was blown away. " I could just listen to those guys for 3 0r 4 more hours" he said after Ledbetter. - I could too.
It was just my kind of set list - Release, Immortality, Hail hail, I got ID and DTE really mead it for me. And I kind of found new love for Even Flow - it has not sounded that vibrant and fresh for years. Mikes solo during Black out of the world!

    The Best show ever. :D:D
Run away my son. See it all. Oh see the world.
  • It was an amazing gig- went to Shepherds Bush last week too. SBE was lovely and intimate but PJ’s sound is much better in the bigger arena. I am surprised that Jazz Odyssey is missing from the set list however – very Spinal Tap.
  • so just want to say how great last night was. talking to couple people before all predicting openers, i said id love release, but expecting hard to imagine. when those first few notes started it felt incredible, the one song ive been wanting to hear for years :D and if that wasnt enough, immortality is always great. footsteps was amazing. ed trying to play michael jackson was pretty funny. hail hail in encore...hella rockin'. light years was special, another i never thought id hear. leaving here kinda came out of nowhere, good to see it return. and of course the premier of supersonic, great straight forward rocking song, even more excited for backspacer. this had to be my favourite time ive seen the boys, great performance of some of my favourite songs. including manchester and shepherds bush, its been an incredible past few days, thanks pearl jam

Hey dude, i think i may have been with you predicting the openers. I had a Black Crowes shirt and i turned around to you as soon as release started...

haha, yes that was me!! :D man, i love release, set the evening for a perfect show

Haha awesome, hope you had a brilliant time! it was the perfect opener and it won me 50p from a bet with a friend
2009 - Shephards Bush, Manchester, London
2010 - Belfast, London, Berlin, Arras, Werchter
    2012 - Manchester 1+2, Berlin 1+2, Stockholm, Oslo
2014 - Berlin, Leeds, Milton Keynes
  • Try as I might to be objective, I simply can't be. That was my first ever PJ live gig and it was one of the best experiences of my life.

I was a little worried as I'd built up all this expectation in my mind prior to going, but I shouldn't have worried, PJ blew those expectations out of the water with a gig I shall keep with me forever.

The set list was spot on. I was surprised they started with "Release" but it was a great way to kick things off. When they played "Black" I was on my feet singing along with the tears streaming down my face. That song has real special meaning for me.

I've never been to a show with 2 encores and the fact they kept coming back & playing just goes to show they are a true band of the people. 10/10 & a new leader on my top ten gigs.
I know some day you'll have a beautiful life, I know you'll be a star, in somebody else's sky but why why why can't it be, can't it be mine?
  • so who did the poster last night? i had a quick look and dont think it was ames or klausen, any ideas?
  • I don't really like to get into ranking gigs. This was my 7th Pearl Jam show and I have never seen them play a bad one (unlike many other bands I could mention), they always give their all and put on a great show. I disagree about the sound, I felt it was much better at the SBE because of the close walls. Was right at the front at the O2 and felt the sound kind of goes over you. Suspect it was much better in the seats. SBE was so special for me having missed out on the Astoria and the way the crowd's singing reverberated around the tiny theatre was just out of this world.

But O2 was definitely up there with the best arena shows I've seen. A truly awesome set list packed full of Vs and Vitalogy classics. Whipping was a fantastic surprise. Black, Footsteps and I Got Shit are three of my favourite songs so I felt very lucky to hear them all in in one gig. Hail Hail, Light Years - amazing. And Rats was a fantastic change of pace. Eddie really got into his 'intense' character for that one - just like the old days :D

Capping it off was the jam on Crazy Mary - just superb musicianship. First time back in the mix at the front for a while. The vibe was so great that getting clobbered in the eye by a stray Doc Martin couldn't spoil it!

I feel so lucky to have followed this band, their music means so much to me. It's a cliche but they really have been the soundtrack to my life. Seeing them twice in a week, two awesome shows for totally different reasons, is an absolute privilege. If they called it a day now I'd be more than satisfied, but I'm almost certain they'll be back

    Thanks for everything Pearl Jam!!
  • Just thoght the whole gig was amazing. Feel like it cannot be topped. Thought Eddie and co. were more enegetic and into the London show than Manchester the night before - Manchester was hot though. Had a somewhat amazing finish to the gig at O2 but something 'final' about the gig. They said it would be a long time before they return to Europe - hopefully not too long (or indeed the last time?) anyone else get that impression - hopefully was just me.

Praps ... the 6 of them taking a bow arm in arm ... a picture speaks a thousand words.

Oh my ... What a show !!! Manchester was great but London O2 was truly awesome.
Finally I heard Release live after all these years. Got tears in my eyes thinking about my dad who passed away 15 years ago. Light Years was really moving as well. It reminded me of the clip of Pinkpop 2000 on youtube.
Honestly it's really difficult to pick highlights during that show because there were so many.
Now I have the post-gig blues ... even more knowing that Eddie said that won't be touring here for quite a while.

Personal low was that me and a 10C friend almost got kicked out because I was selling my 10C spare to him at face value! Managed to explain it to the guys so I did get in just fine but still it got to spoil the fun for me until the concert started. Still upset by that. 10C forces us to buy 2 tickets then we get treated like criminals as we share them with other fans :(
Good security inside, got plenty of drinking water and no big incidents where I was standing altough I had to keep myself and others from falling a few times. Some people think that spreading elbows at face height is a good idea :(. Also, Ed's 3 steps back routine worked well this time. Better than in Berlin, where the crowd pushed forward again as soon as the next song started. And it makes me think back at Roskilde. But it's good that he does it.
Loved Rats, Love Reign o'er me, Light Years and getting to like Fixer a lot. Got Some is OK, didn't care much for Supersonic although it's always nice to witness a 'maiden voyage' and it may grow on me.
Great little solos from Jeff and Matt
Lots of singing from the crowd and sounded great.
I liked Gomez better every time (Rotterdam, Berlin, O2). I think they were a good support act.
Apart from the venue and the Ronnie Wood appearance, it was definitely much better than Shepherds Bush Empire
But to summarize my tour: loved SBE, loved Rotterdam, loved Berlin, loved O2 ;-) Love the band and the fans!!

Just mindblowing, except for one guy trying to push past us at the front near Mike. Best gig I've personally ever been to, and nearly creamed my pants when they played Light Years. Thankyou Pearl Jam

Not sure what to say, that hasn't already been said!

Just got back to Copenhagen from a few days in London. So many highlights. The acoustics of the arena, leaving us with a sound as clear as crystal. Ed's voice in absolutely phenomenal form. The setlist. The crowd. The sing-alongs. The emotion. The general mood and atmosphere.

And "the 3-step back", which really brought out 9 years of emotion with me and my wife. This was my wife's second PJ-gig. Last time was in Roskilde 2000, where we were in the middle of the pit till about 15 minutes before they had to stop the show - so seeing a seething crowd like yesterday respect each other and safety like that was really beautiful.

This show was just mindblowingly good.

Better that the security are hot on tickets changing hands and try to stop touting, as they seem to succeed in doing at the o2. Why other venues can't is beyond me. I don't think the security guys would have been aware of how the 10c ticketing works, though I do kind of agree that they should sell singles... but the fact that you get to meet other fans through the swapping/selling of 10c tickets to others adds to the whole community thing.

An absolutely awesome week, Shepherds Bush, never thought I'd see the band in a theatre. Worth every penny I didn't have and then some! Great setlist and performance, setlist in Manchester was excellent again and then the o2. It's been one of the best weeks of my life and I consider it a privilege to have shared it with so many great people. Met loads of people on my travels around the country, from the forums and just other randoms at the shows, Pearl Jam fans are amazing.

To see them play songs like In Hiding, Light Years, Footsteps, Present Tense, Sleight Of Hand, Immortality... absolutely priceless considering 3 years ago I'd never seen them and was expecting a greatest hits set at Reading and was still unsure if I'd be able to go to Dublin. That performance last night topped the lot though, the crowd and the performance from the band combined for one amazing night.

When can we all do this again?
The secret to a happy ending is knowing when to roll the credits

and there's another 10 different ones if you include SBE...

What can I say?! Seen the boys 5 times now, and apart from the Astoria gig, that was the best gig ever of all time, including other bands!!

    Just a short question...

Is there any other band in the world?!?!?!
I am forever grateful to this band for giving us their ALL every single night and offering me such a wonderful gift - MUSIC, music that allows me to feel all that I want to feel, music that makes me strong in times of weakness, music that gives me joy in times of sorrow - SammieBlack

Just made it back form concert to home, Istanbul. it was an amazing nite for me. I cant believe to the both setlists in Manchester and London. Eddie was incredible at London , he has shown the best performance i had ever seen !!!

i am watching my records again and again, wishing to go back that night, close my eyes and hear release again !

I swapped my ten club seated tickets for standing tickets and there wasn't a problem. We even did it straight after recieving them.
The beer is pricy in there. But I didn't mind paying £4.30 after the gig. That pint didn't even touch the sides. I am very concious of standing and having loads of pints before hand as there will be a time to cut loose. But I wasn't risking where I was stood (level with Mike 15-20 back).
Thanks to Daviecoop for swapping tickets and to Monkeywrench01 for making sure a real fan got my spare. We had a very good night.

I told my mom about the blonde woman who was doing the mic checks looking like her, she was really chuffed! Still like to see a picture of her so I can send it on!
    :D Rock on!!!! :D
Seen Pearl Jam 4 times in London, once in Manchester, as well as an Eddie show at Hammersmith.
  • Great setlist, I'm quite jealous actually! ;)
It's gonna be a glorious day...

Amazing photos dude, mine were all crap taken with my mobile phone, vids came out ok but I didn't dare take a proper camera with me as security were taking them off people on the way in...
  • Why were the O2 security guys taking our tickets off us instead of just tearing off the stubs? really anoyed that I didn't get to keep my ticket...

Still, had an amazing night and have loads of great memories of the gig...

staff were giving out tickets as people were leaving the gig, like they used to do at Wembley (I hope I don't ever have to go back to a gig at that place!)
