    Damn, Sox have scored 12 runs in the 6th inning before recording ONE out. Bay just drilled a 3 run jack.

    .... and in the lineup are guys like Bailey, Green, Kottaras, Lugo and Baldelli ... we're not talking the '27 Yankees here.

    That story is nothing new. Don't you remember the interview uber prospect Paxton Crawford gave about 3 or 4 years ago to ESPN the magazine describing the clubhouse culture of the Red Sox in that era? And you had Manny Alexander driving around with steroids in his car in the late 90's.

    The thing is by the time the Sox got good again in 03 and Epstein took over almost everyone from that era was gone. He cleaned house and brought about a new culture and which is why th Sox have been very successful the last 5 years.

    Merloni explained what he meant later on. He said that they had a lot of people come and talk about the dangers of drug use. He said he recalled one guy saying something like if you are going to do it, and you shouldn't, then don't be a habitual user cause it will cause harm. One time won't be too detrimental to your health, but repeated use will be.

    Now with that said, they have been asking other players and no one else has been able to remember this.

    And LASTLY. I have no doubt that some of the players from the 04 Sox were probably taking steroids. But so were players on the Yankees, Angels, Cardinals, INSERT ANY TEAM HERE, etc.

    Does it bother me. Slightly. Does it take anything away from the World Championship. Absolutely not. Not a bit.

    I also don't begrudge the Yankees championships from the Roger "needle sticking out of my ass" Clemens era.

    Look at the last few WS Champs..they haven't had huge payrolls

    Marlins,St.Louis..not to mention the Rays were there on a very low budget
