  • Sean Astin used the success of LOtR to make money on a stupid--yes, stupid--book. The guy is obsessed with himself. I now understand why people call him arrogant. I always thought he was misunderstood, but the dude is just arrogant. Either that or he's OC.

I love David Sedaris! I know my neighbors have to think I'm a little off, because I listen to Sedaris while working in my yard, and I don't even realize I'm laughing out loud until I'm wiping the tears from my face! "When you are engulfed in flames" is good, but if you need to laugh, and lift some of your day to day stressors, listen to "Me talk pretty one day". You should listen to David Sedaris, his narration is awesome, especially when he is speaking as his mother, sister or brother. My husband and I went a few years ago to hear him read from "Dress your family in courdoroy and denim" and it was priceless. My husband hadn't read anything of his before that night, but really got into it that night on.

Right now I'm reading "Animal, Vegetable, Miracle" by Barbara Kingsolver. She is a fantastic fiction writer but this book is about her family's year long project to eat only local or personally grown foods. It's really been an eye opener for me, specifically about how much petroleum is used to grow and manufacture food.
    This is a great thread!

I just finished "Duma Key" and I LOVED it!!! So I have started Sedaris' "Dress your family..." and it is good so far. A friend of mine loves his stuff!!
  • I know it's lame but I just got Into The wild for $1.45

well i went in to barnes and noble the other day to pick up a stephen king novel and just happened to catch a glimpse of the cover for american psycho and figured 'what the hell?' so far it's pretty much what i expected: very heavy descriptions of everything material.

I really was into them for a little bit back in the '80's. He had all the talent in that band and when he started going down hill, so did they.

Well, i still think they are freakin awesome. Keep in mind they never wanted to be "the best" in terms of what everyone thought SHOULD be the best. They were loud, badd, careless, and they still secure the reputation. :D
