  • then what do we do with melky? good young centerfielder with a cannon for an arm. he is an asset in the field.

I still start him, just pinch hit for him late, and sub Christian or Gardner for late defense. Or the other way around. it seems like every game he comes up with a runner or 2 on, down a run or 2, and never comes thru. You know how they say the ball finds you when you're in a defensive slump...that's how it is for Melky. The clutch at bats find him. He's like Giambi. His stats are inflated (and overall, they aren't that good) by one good month, April

Gosh I HATE the Yankees, but I would rather beat them than see guys
getting hurt at a very young age.

  • Anyone else gonna pick this up? I'm a little pissed they put the 2001 game 4 on this set too, as it's already on the Dynasty set. They should have put game 5 on this one so we could have both of those amazingly unprobable games. Ah well, I'll still get this just for Chambliss and Aaron Fucking Boone

I know, but still. It does not bode well at all.

What is he pitching, a no-hitter?

If Karstens finishes this one off without allowing a run, it'll be 15 scoreless innings to start his NL career. Good for him.

I guess it's Kennedy and Geise to replace Joba and Rasner this time around the rotation. I think we'll see Hughes within the next 2 weeks. Was Rasner sent down or moved to the bullpen?

Kind of off topic with all that's going on lately, but what do you guys think happens with Abreu in the offseason? I'd offer him a 1 year deal and see if he takes it.

I doubt he would take it. He'll be 35 when the season starts next year and it will probably be his last chance to get a big contract. He'll probably get a 3 or 4 year deal from someone.

For some reason I was thinking he was a couple years older. Hell, he's 11 months younger than me! The offseason will be interesting to watch and see what they go after. You gotta think 1B and SP are the priorities, but I think they have to either resign Abreu or bring in someone else. Damon and Matsui are having trouble staying healthy and that is compounded when they actually play OF.

    Joba Watch
This from Brian Cashman: Chamberlain has what is being described as rotator cuff tendinitis. He will be rested for a week and then start a throwing program after being evaluated.

They won't offer him anything. That's why they have Nady.

Uh oh. I hope I-Rod isn't hurt now.

    Molina is pinch-hitting.
