Everyone can have their own opinion and I can discuss any subject without getting upset by someone else's ideas. The key for each party is to not convert the other. Express you opinions, if both parties are intelligent they will take the ideas of the other away to think about. Stone Gossard...riffmeister extraordinaire!
I am a man, I am advanced.....I am the first man to borrow Stone's leather pants!0 -
addressing the original post: I think with somebody like that, you just need to bare with them. They just found something new that makes them feel good, they want to share it. Eventually its not as new and exciting, and they'll settle down a bit.
If not, they'll probably become a televangelist
People just react differently to that kinda thing.Pirates had democracy too.

ok ... like lately, I've been extolling the virtues of the new Smokey Chipotle Chicken from KFC, but I'm sure in a week I'll be over it.Jam out with your clam out.0 -

Ridiculous statements like that on the other hand do make me want to, at the very least, give a stern look.

They just become so desperate for everything to make sense with a simple answer that they just give up on truth and instead embrace fantasy.
One might say live and let live, but if you truly are his friend and sincerely care for his well-being, you have an obligation to do everything in your power to ensure that he reliquinshes his desire for spirituality before it's too late -before he loses any hope of understanding life on life's terms rather than through the twisted lens of religion's terms.
Whatever you think about religion personally it's pretty fucking rude and ignorant to impose the idea that this guy needs 'protecting' from it. Get over yourself.'We're learning songs for baby Jesus' birthday. His mum and dad were Merry and Joseph. He had a bed made of clay and the three kings bought him Gold, Frankenstein and Merv as presents.'

if you don't want to hear it, just change the subject. If they persist, tell them politely you are not interested (I read this in a magazine.)
you act like they robbed a bank or something.
i believe in god...It seems like life would sort of miserable without belief in something bigger. The church may have its problems but god seems to be a pretty cool dude"Well, I think this band is incapable of sucking."

oh Catholic school/Catholics.. how well you have managed to ruin religion!"Don't be faint-hearted, I have a solution! We shall go and commandeer some small craft, then drift at leisure until we happen upon another ideal place for our waterside supper with riparian entertainments."0 -
