Why wasn't there a doubleheader today?

I heard it was the Mets who blocked any talk of a doubleheader, because they have another doubleheader Tuesday, against the Braves. Xavier could be right though, he would know better than me the real reason

If I had to guess, it's probably a combination of both. I know the Mets didn't want to play a single game Monday afternoon since they have a day-nighter Tuesday in Atlanta.

that's what they said in 2005. said it again in 2006. many said it again in 2007, though some were smart enough to lay off, after being burned 2 years in a row. It takes a special kind of person to say it yet again, for the fourth year in a row

I agree but it is strange to see.

  • wouldn't matter if casey Stengal was available. As long as they keep running overpaid hacks like Giambi and Damon out there, this team isn't going anywhere. You can't have a leadoff hitter who's hitting .251, and who doesn't steal bases anymore. You can't put a brick wall on 1st base, and hope he doesn't fuck up too much. Especially when he's hitting .192. It's time for him to either go back on the steroids or join his loser brother Jeremy on the unemployment line. The only way this fraud was ever any good was when he was sticking a needle up his gold thonged ass. The time for major change is here. Bat Damon 8th or 9th, when he plays. Call up Gardner and lead him off. You can't make out the lineup card based on how much people make.

I know. But I bet if his name was Willie Randolph they'll be calling for his head by now. He should just stick to one lineup for now. Leadoff Jeter and have Cano bat second. Matsui then A-Rod followed by Abreu then Melky, Giambi(maybe Duncan), Damon then backup Molina/Moeller.

what was the point of making a pitching change to have him start with an intentional walk after he warmed up. you're telling me a starting pitcher can't do that and then be taken out?

oh shit, you're right, they are a role model organization! I mean their payroll has just done wonders for them. Their farm system is SO paying off.... especially on the mound! They have shut so many people up by continuing to lose early in the playoffs. Tons of teams have gone all the way with a payroll over 100 million. Oh wait only one has done it. ..........twice....... and now the yanks supposed "ace" is sucking.

    ah

    1.1 billion and counting :)
Keep hanging on to the past, no doubt they WERE brilliant. They'll be stuck on 26 for long time

    ATTENTION ALL YANKEE FANS.....RELAX

First of all there are 188 games left, the Yanks will turn it around. They are missing 354 hits and 74 HR from last year between A-Rod and Posada. Granted Posada had a career year last year he is still better than Molina. Cano has been playing much better this month, batting .314 in May. Plus no one is running away with the AL East this season. Compare 2007 and 2008 standings. At this point last year the Yanks were 18-24 and 10.5 games out. Now they are 20-24 and only 6 games out. Baseball is a marathon and not a sprint.
Hey, you wouldn't hire a clown to fix a leak in the jon so why do you let these hooligans tear down the biz? YEEAAHHH. I don't care if he is Mr. Notorious BIG, can he croon?

I don't like this whole 'let's blame it on Joe,' thing. THat's the easy target. He's not out there hitting and it's not his fault A-Rod and Jorge are hurt, and the starting pitching has been spotty.

    Blech.

you really want to have a farm system discussion?

Lester is 13-4 with 200 IPs with a decent 4.47 era in the majors with a World Series clinching victory. What exactly have Chamberlain and Hughes done yet?

Chamberlain has pitched a total of 42 IPs so far and lost in the post season. Hughes is 5-7 with an era of 5.51.
