Congrats to the Sox fans and I'm sorry to the Indians fans. I know how that feels when your team is ahead and then....d'oh! :(

This ALCS-the games were exciting to watch. And ok, I admit it: I like Big Papi. (shush don't tell anybody).

I think the Sox are going all the way...

I don't know anything about Colorado though.

My Mom said it was snowing there last week? Does the stadium have a roof??

lastnight they said they got 4 inches, and the team had to practice at a local indoor facility.

    Wow! That's crazy!

I looked up the weather-it's 40 degrees there now! Brr. The forecast for Wed is 64 and sunny. Not bad. The low is 42.

OMFG can the sox please not win the World Series...I don't hate them I just don't want to have to go to the parade with my fiance. Oh well, at least I know that my team -the Brewers- are one of the reasons the Rockies are in the tournament in the first place.
  • Congradulations to the Red sox, the better team did win the series, it just sucks that the Indians played like crap the last 3 games though.
I'll pull for you guys in the series.
You got to give props to Victor Martinez for winning the all-star game, so you can enjoy the home field advantage.

    Good luck.

Ok guys and gals...Our team is down 3-1...but I'm still confident they can bounce back (at least that's what I'm hoping and wishing).

Just remember 2004 ALCS: down 0-3 and won 4 straight.

Let's all pray for a successful Game 5 for the Red Sox.

yeah but it's not the 2004 team. this team doesn't have that spark. nobody seems to be doing much of anything. Everyone is just focusing on papy, manny, lowell, and beckett, and then when they choke we gut nothing. Varitek and Youklis finally seem to be stepping up though.

that's what I really don't like about baseball- every year it's a different team and they don't care what team they're on as long as they get paid. It's hard to really be a fan of any single player or for the teams to progress in any sort of consistent manner.

Someone on this thread or the yanks thread was bitching that baseball has more than 2 teams

    no it doesn't

When the Red Sox's 11-2 win over the Indians ended at 11:45 p.m. on Sunday night,86 percent of homes with the TV on -- were tuned in.

I missed out on ALL the Red Sox histronics in the last couple of days. Took a 5 day work trip to Palm Beach, FL and now I hear Tim Wakefield won't be pitching in the World Series.

Here's the link from the Boston Globe...Tim Wakefield is left off Series roster.

I like the pre-game moves so far so.....Let's go Sox!

It makes sense. He's hurt so he can't relieve and knuckleballs don't break in the thin air that well so he wouldn't do well as a starter. 0-2 with a 9.31 era in Colorado in 2 career starts.

Plus when you carry Gagne, you already are one player short.

They should add Tavarez to the roster who has a good pitching history in Colorado, 4-2 with a 4.43 era in 89 career innings.

I'm thinking Tavarez gets the call in game 4 ... he had a pretty huge ground ball / fly ball split this year (like 54% of balls put in play, were ground balls), something certainly needed in Colorado ... Tavarez to start with Lester on deck.

Schilling or Dice K in game two? Schilling is much better at home, but Dice K's plethora of pitches may not fair well in the thin air ...

I don't think it matters where Schill pitches. Dice K even though he is 8-4 at home and 7-8 on the road is statistically better on the road.

He had a 4.86 era and batters hit .266 at home against him. He had a 4.02 era and and batters hit .230 against him on the road.

So I'm sticking with Schilling in Game 2 and Dice K in Game 3.

What worries me most about Dice K is the third time through the roder. the first 2 times through batters hit .234 off him. They hit .270 off him with a much higher OPS the third time through.

well ... Lester was indeed on deck ... hee hee ...

a lot to put on the kid*, let's hope it's a 3-0 Sox lead by the time he takes the mound.

*note, the Rockies are sending up two kids in Morales and Jimenez ... if you haven't seen these two, they got electric stuff.

Ubaldo .... it's just fun to say.

I think the Rockies announced Morales was going to the pen and that Aaron Cook was going to be activated to pitch game 4 against Lester, which ought to be interesting because Cook hasn't pitched since August 10th.

yeah, saw that tonight ... Cook in ... doesn't strike out a lot ... doesn't walk a lot ... doesn't give up a lot of HRs ... but an ERA 2 runs higher at home then on the road ...

held the Sox to 2 runs on 7 hits in 7 IP in June at Fenway ...

at least the Sox have indeed seen him before.

relevance is the grail your looking for!
pls excuse my intrusion into your Sox thread:

I am not looking for any 'grail'
    and um,
you could be looking for a clue, no?

Just b/c the Yankees haven't won the WS
    does not make them 'irrelevant'

the Joe Torre still makes national headlines and the Yankees arguably have more fans than any other team then, arguably, the Red Sox :)
