    I forgot all about this story !

    Funny combo- to say the least !

    http://www.springsteenlyrics.com/lyrics/c/cometogether.php

    Bruce Springsteen was among the attendee of the Rock 'N' Roll Hall Of Fame induction on 20 Jan 1994 at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel, New York City, NY. In celebration of John Lennon's induction as a solo artist, COME TOGETHER was planned to be performed by Elton John and Rod Stewart, but the latter didn't make the event because of an earthquake that hit Los Angeles shortly before the event. According to Brucebase, while Bob Weir, John Popper, and others were performing onstage, the production personnel approached Bruce with a lyrics sheet to COME TOGETHER. Bruce politely refused, repeatedly. The producers then asked Guns N' Roses front-man Axl Rose who was at the next table. Axl agreed and then pulled up a chair next to Bruce. After a minute or two of conversation, Axl put the lyrics on the table and Bruce and Axl hovered over the paper for a few minutes. When the stage was cleared, Bruce and Axl got up, walked onto the stage, and rocked. No rehearsal. No practice. Amazing to witness.

    heres the video from youtube :

    gotta love the comments on youtube- almost as funny as this strange duo combination .

    PBS WON'T LET YOU BE LONELY TONIGHT

    The MusiCares "Person of the Year" Tribute to James Taylor, which Springsteen played in February (and which was recently issued on DVD), will be airing on tellyvision, gratis, beginning tonight on PBS. "Bruce's version of 'Millworker' was a completely new and different take," Taylor recently said, "much more intense, pointing out the aspect that had to do with workers' conditions." The broadcast of A Tribute to James Taylor is part of PBS's Great Performances series; check local listings ( http://www.pbs.org/wnet/gperf/broadcast/schedule_airdates.html ) for when you can catch it.

  • K2 From Greasy Lake...

    "Now that the most recent 'tour' has concluded, it looks like the following is in store for the next year and beyond:

    1) Beginning sometime at the beginning of 2007, look for the beginning of a new ESB record to be recorded. As has been mentioned a number of times, the amount of material that has been written over the last year or so is quite extensive. Look for a number of ESB 'worthy' songs to be the focus of the recording session. If the recording meets with satisfaction;
    2) Look for a new ESB tour to begin sometime during mid to fall 2007. Although illness has been overcome and hips have been replaced, look for this to be the last ESB tour. At present, this may go for approximately 18 months, at least;
    3) Look for additional recorded material/videos to come to the market at regular intervals. Having learned from the D&D video recording catasrophe of the two shows in Boston during 10/2005, which have mercifully been scrapped, the content of the SSB concerts recently taped in Ireland will result in a concert DVD and CD;
    4) Work on an additional Tracks/Outtakes compilation continues. This is being treated more as a hobby than an active project, but it will see the light sometime in the future;
    5) After the next and last ESB Tour, look for additional CD(s) and tour(s) with at least some members of the SSB. During this last tour, a number of songs were written which have been determined to be perfect for this latest band. It is anticipated that at least some members of this band will form a core group which will be used to record and tour in the future.

    During the SSB Tour, discussions concerning "the home stretch" took off. The priority was determined to be the ESB and the hope and desire is that in the breadth of work written during the D&D tour and the latest tour, that a core group of songs for the ESB to record and tour with exists and that this will become evident during the recording sessions in January 2007. Obviously, if what comes out in the recording sessions is not met with approval, this will throw off all of these plans. To note, members of the ESB have prepared both physically and with their schedules for this last ESB Tour.

    Although these are the plans at present, what is interesting is the talk and planning for after the ESB. The desire to record and tour with another band, as well as another anticipated acoustic tour, are very likely. Looks like this forum will have a lot of activity to discuss for at least the next five years. Amazing what a new recording contract will do

    thats the buzz about the new record.

    7th HEAVEN: SANTA COMES OUT FOR LIGHT OF DAY

    The Seventh Annual Light of Day show was blessed with a suprise guest last night, as Bruce Springsteen, old friend of founder Bob Benjamin and longtime LOD supporter, showed up for a few songs to help the cause. "I think we've got a friend here," announced Marah's Dave Bielanko late in the band's set, and with that, on came Bruce, wearing a newsboy cap, denim and black work boots. He took guitar and lead vocals on the Eddie Floyd classic "Raise Your Hand" and traded licks with Dave's brother Serge on the Marah original "Reservation Girl."

    Brought onstage to an oldschool R&B instrumental vamp, Springsteen reappeared a few songs into Joe Grushecky's set, performing a mix of Joe's tunes and his own material, highlighted by an extended "Atlantic City," "Darkness on the Edge of Town," and a rousing version of "Code of Silence" with Grushecky, that song's co-writer. The night ended with all the night's performers crowding onstage for the usual all-star jam, Bruce leading them in a singalong on "Santa Claus is Comin' to Town" before thanking everyone for coming and driving off into the night.

    Bobby Bandiera leads all-star benefit concert

    Posted by the Asbury Park Press on 12/9/06

    BY ED CONDRAN
    CORRESPONDENT

    It doesn't take long for Bobby Bandiera to pull together recording artists for his All Star Holiday Concert benefit.

    "I live next door to some of the guys who will play," he said. "I also can run into them at the grocery store."

    Some of the usual suspects, such as Southside Johnny Lyon, will be performing alongside Bandiera on Tuesday during the third annual ALS benefit at the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank.

    There also are some high profile folks that Bandiera, 53, doesn't see while picking produce in his Brick neighborhood who may or may not appear at the sold-out event.

    "You never know who is going to show up," Bandiera said.

    The concert is akin to a Christmas present. Fans will have to wait and see what's under the wrapping paper.

    Will Jon Bon Jovi, who tabbed Bandiera to join his band for his 2005-06 tour, or his charitable pal Bruce Springsteen pop in for the concert? Or will other high-profile recording artists from out of the area perform?

    You'll need a much sought-after ticket to find out who graces the stage. What aficionados should know is that about 20 percent of the material will be comprised of holiday tunes.

    "I've been a big fan of Christmas songs ever since I was a little kid," Bandiera said while calling from Cleveland. "I love "White Christmas' by Darlene Love and Chuck Berry's "Run Rudolph Run.' But we're going to be doing a lot of regular material."

    The songs are just part of the equation. The unpredictable banter between the artists is worth the experience.

    "Most of us who perform together know each other very well," Bandiera said. "We have a good time up there. It's showbiz, but there are no fake smiles when we get up there. It's part of what people come out for. It's loose, but when it comes to the performance, it's very serious.

    "I'm not James Brown out there giving fines of $20 for every mistake someone makes in the band. I'll just go up and kick them in the shins. To me, it's a big deal whether you step on the stage of The Stone Pony, Giants Stadium or the Count Basie. You have to be a professional, and professionals will join me for this show. We'll be ready and well-rehearsed by the time the show comes around."

    Bandiera can never do enough benefit shows.

    "I've been doing shows like this for the last eight years," Bandiera said. "I would love to do more of them. It's good to give back. I've been very fortunate and this is the least I can do. And the other thing is that I enjoy it. To perform is a great way to give back."

    since there will be no Christmas Holiday Shows fro the Man himself this season ( Seeger Sessions Band Tour hangover ) tonight is most likely the only holiday appearance The Boss will be making.

    It will be so good to see him rocking out with an electric guitar again,...
