I'm not trying to knock anyone, but I think a lot of people don't like anything that is new and it takes time to grow on them. I knew going into this there would be about 20% of the people on here that wouldn't like it no matter what it sounded like, because it is new....and it looks like i was right. After the album comes out about half of these people will say they were wrong and now like the song.

I personally loved the song and Matt kicked ass on it. I don't get any of the comparisons people are trying to make to other PJ songs. I have listened to it a lot and think it is really unique. Now I just need some more tour announcements.

That's rich. Like there aren't twice as many people here that will swear this song is awesome out of some sense of misguided loyalty despite the fact that if they had heard it without knowing it was PJ, they'd never have given it a second thought. I've got no problem with new material, if it's good. The Tragically Hip's new album is incredible. I've got no problem with letting music grow on me, as I did with Greg Dulli's work. But I've had plenty of time with Riot Act, s/t has grown less impressive over time, and this song sucks. Generally, my first impressions on music are right. I give time to be proven wrong, but I'm not (like I suspect many of you here are doing) going to make excuses or talk myself into loving something I know I don't enjoy.

I'm just glad we got to hear some pj...Yeah the sound quality was not the best. The song was pretty good. It will take some time to fully digest all of it..I really want to hear the album now. It seemed like conan was a true fan of the band. Overall It was cool to see the band. Maybe they should have let them played two songs.

Sure the sound wasn't all that great, but I thought the song rocked!!! Catchy as hell too. Only listened to it 2x and can't get it out of my head. I think it'll sound awesome once they work it out more and have a real concert setup.

As far as Eddie struggling, it seemed just liek the Eddie we've been seeing for years. The faces, ect are him getting into the song and his passion for the music causes his vocals to end up not being "perfect"...but holy hell it's a rock song and he's a rock singer, it shoulded be "perfect" it's suppose to elicit feeling not sound pretty.

All in all, I wish the overall sound was better....and I wish they played for the entire show since the rest pretty much sucked. I hope Conan can bounce back or maybe Will Ferrell's song was spot on. :)

Interesting. I agree with you on Right Act...save a few songs, it's mostly forgettable. BUt I still love s/t...and Comatose for some reason is one of my favorite PJ songs. And I love the new song as well. Music is so subjective. They throw it out there, take it if you like it or leave it if you don't...it's all good.

I think some people are just miserable people. They don't like the meal they just ate. They don't like the movie they just watched. They don't like the book they just read. They hate their favorite football team. They didn't like Bush, but they sure as fuck don't like Obama. They're dating somebody, but they really don't like them.

I've come to realize some people just hate everything about everything, so why are we surprised they don't like this song?

I suppose there are some people here who genuinely didn't like the song (although I don't see how) or still don't realize that every new Pearl Jam song or record is somewhat of an acquired taste. But I think a lot of people don't like it simply because they are miserable pricks.

i dug it. i liked the avocado album but when i first heard WWS, i was like 'uh-oh'. just not my favorite song.

after hearing this song, i'm VERY excited for the new record. really like this tune, whether it's 'the fixer' or not. whatever it is, it rocks...

right there with you. WWS is my least favorite song off their last record. this song (in my opinion) is much stronger than WWS.

So funny how we are all different. I grinned ear to ear upong hearing WWS for this first time.

I didn't get that reaction this time, although I like it. I don't think it is near as strong as WWS.

And everyone needs to stop the name calling just because people do or do not like the new song. We are allowed to!

Ok, everyone, we all know that Ed's voice took a bit of a hit last night. Mostly due to the low mic volume they set it at, but Ed may have also been sick, or just trying to yell a lot of the song out BECAUSE of the low mic volume. Regardless, just give it a rest.

This song was amazing, though! Killer riff, great hook, chorus sounded great, the softer bridge was a nice throw-in. Loved the song!
