I liked it.....it's sharp, clean, and to the point (looking hard past the crappy sound at NBC) And for sure it's modern and sounds a bit like KOL, but this is a GOOD thing........WWS wasn't so representative of avocado, so who knows what's in store.
He sure had a hell of a set up for the band, saying they were one of the best bands in the world, and saying knowing they would play the first show was something that pulled him through what he was going through these past few months or whatever.
With all the talk on the board of the bad sound quality and ed's voice, hopefully he wasnt disappointed.
20 seconds into watching it I told my roommate that the sound man in charge needed punched in the face.
That said, I felt like the sound cleaned up by halfway through, even if it was still terrible...
...now, having listened to the MP3 about 5 times since I first watched it, I can honestly say that I did the sweet heck out of it. The feel, the vibe... it reminds me a bit of the energy of Yield era stuff...
Basically, definitely not the single best performance of a sing (Ed's voice seemed to struggle), and the aforementioned poor sound, but overall I was completely stoked and it's got me UBER excited for the album...
...and the Artwork seems cool, too...
My 2 cents...
If Adam and Eve had Taco Bell they would have never eaten that filthy fruit...
just watched it twice not impressed at all very boaring song in my opinion started of cool with mike guitar but the verses are horrible, just not my cup of tea.
Even though Ed really seeemed to be struggling, I thought it sounded great.
Reminds me of "Dig Me Out" by Sleater-Kinney
Which is probably why so many of you didn't like it...

You can't be serious. That song didn't have 1/1000th of the groove and soul KoL's weakest moments have. A younger audience hearing that is going to think "what the hell was that?" Yeah, the sound sucked, but that's not enough to obscure the fact that the song was weaker than hell. Ladies and gents... welcome to the latest in a long line (starting with gods' dice up through big wave) of half assed riff rockers that won't be played ever again after the album tour. No groove, no hook, no chorus, no decipherable lyrics, not even a verse as far as I could tell. This is everything I had hoped the new album would not be and feared it would be :( PJ... you're not teenagers anymore, quit trying to write lame punk songs that even teenagers would have the good sense to recognize as weak.
And who the hell thinks this is new? It sounds exactly like Comatose, take 2. Nothing modern about it. It's a half baked punk song with fancier drum fills.
You should stop eating crack for breakfast, it is warping you sense of reality.

Well for the most part its superb to see so much positivity on here about the new stuff, the showbox stuff sounded grand to me, yeah its muffled and shitty but you can pick out enough to say I enjoy the melody contained therein..
There will always be the odd person here and there who wants to say the new stuff is shit (mainly one person in this thread) but on the whole this thread is a positive one, and its been a while since we've had such a positive thread with people backing the band
I havent seen the tune yet, but I will later when I get home and I for one can't wait.
I really liked the song... I think its an exciting sound... can't wait to hear the studio version... stoked that Brendan O'brien is back with the guys...
the Conan studio sound quality didn't seem great, but I would bet Conan was not disappointed... and yeah, that was really cool hearing Conan give them such high (deserved) praise...
I was so excited to hear that PJ would be on Conan's first show.... two of my favorite things together... loved it.... that was a big deal for me... thanks Conan! Thanks PJ!
I'm not going to let my love of the band skew my judgement...that song sucked. I only had to hear it once. I hope I never hear it again. I don't know what that was or who that was last night but that wasn't pearl jam.
I'd be critical if I could, but in my opinion I thought the song was pretty solid. I wouldn't hesitate to say if I didn't like it since I'm quite critical of the band because I hold them in such high regard. The sound quality wasn't the best, but it's to be expected for Late Night shows (I never think the sound quality on those shows are anything special). Out of the two new songs I've heard thus far, I'm diggin' them both! I just wish I didn't have to wait all the way till Sep 22 for the album to be released.

What exactly is a "boaring" song?
That Showbox leak shouldn't even be called a song its of such piss poor quality.
