A friend at work got a copy of it and my wife and I watched it over three nights last week. I enjoyed it but it's not that scary. My wife thought it was very scary. The couple is very annoying. We both really hated the guy the first time we watched it and then hated the girl even more the second time (we watched it with friends Saturday night.) We had a different ending than the one in the theater and the theater one sounds better."We're fixed good, lamp-wise."0 -

Great film. Was kinda hoping it wouldn't explain everything and leave more up to interpiration but great none the less.
Watched 'State of play' last night, pretty good for what it is - Ben Affleck is pretty shite but luckily he ain't in it too much.
Going to see Harry Brown on thurs, looking forward to it.0 -

I hate horror movies - I'm a total wuss! A friend saw this and it totally freaked him out! Even gave him nightmares!! Then the dick had to tell me all about it - which in turn gave me nightmares! I am NOT going to watch it but if you like scary movies I think you'll like it.all you need is love, love is all you need0 -

I enjoyed State of Play. I agree it is good for what it is. It's the perfect movie to rent, fun without having to think much. I watched that and Obsessed back to back. Both fun for what they are."We're fixed good, lamp-wise."0 -
I like that movie that was mentioned sometime in this thread.I miss igotid880

Anybody seen the Hurt Locker yet?
Best film of the year! It should get some Oscar buzz come December/January.
One of the best war films I've seen in a long time.
Not sure if it's still in the theaters or on DVD yet. Hard to tell with indie films.PJ- 04/29/2003.06/24,25,27,28,30/2008.10/27,28,30,31/2009

I've been waiting to see it. Saw a preview on IFC and was blown away. According to my local Blockbuster, it's being released on DVD 10 January 2010."What the CANUCK happened?!? - Esquimalt Barber Shop0 -
really looking forward to the hurt locker. on my netflix waitlist.
anyone see couples retreat?
the previews looked funny, but it got such shit reviews. we went and saw the men who stare at goats instead. not too impressed with that either. however, we WILL be hitting up the theatre again sometime next week, and the pickins' are slim. one friend saw and said she enjoyed it. obviously, i don't expect brilliance...but is it entertaining at all? maybe should just go and see an education as that looks good. i just think hubby is in the mood for a light comedy.Stay with me...
Let's just breathe...
I am myself like you somehow0 -
I saw Road House for the first time last night. It was like a train wreck that I couldn't stop watching until it ended at 1:30 am. Having heard about this movie for years, I can honestly say that it lived up to the spectacle that I thought it would be. 80's hair (feathered and large). 80's vehicles (monster trucks and convertables). 80's soundtrack (nondescript studio rock). 80's plot (bad guy extorts the "good" and "honest" locals). 80's bad guy (rich guy who has an large number of unusually loyal henchmen working for him). 80's acting (overacting).
I think the only way my evening could've been more complete is if Over the Top or Tango & Cash would have been on next.Post edited by HeavyHands on"A lot more people are capable of being big out there that just don't give themselves a chance." -Stone Gossard0 -
Would highly recommend watching 'Harry Brown'. Not just a film about thugs and vengeance, it was made with a sincere passion on the subject of 'justice' and it's definition.
Anyone seen 'A serious Man' yet? Gonna try and watch this sometime soon.0 -
I know this movie has been out for a while, but we saw JESUS CAMP this weekend and it was amazing - in a creepy, train wreck, are these people real sort of way. But seriously, it was good. Disturbing, but good.0

Persepolis is pretty good. A Prophet has got out standing reviews and its one i'm looking out for when its released. REC not too bad. Its your run of the mill 'blair witch' style horror film but worth a watch.
I watched 'A serious man' the other day - very funny and intelligent film with wonderful characters in it as you might expect from a Coen Brothers film.0 -
just saw 'Brothers' and really enjoyed it0

13 (Tzameti) is an interesting film!! Apparently being remade in HOllywood - what a surprise!
REC is much better than Blair Witch - a very well executed film of it's type.http://www.wishlistfoundation.org

Cool. I liked Blair Witch. I just need to get myself in the right frame of mind for a marathon film watching session. :geek:0
