    Anyone see "Attack The Block"?

Some friends mentioned to me this movie a few months back. It's a UK movie starring Nick Frost (Shaun of the Dead/Hot Fuzz) some English woman (never heard of her) and some UK kids. Anyway there's an alien attack in London and these "gangster" teens get involved. It was real good. I wanted to see this earlier but it wasn't being played in philly except for one day when it premiered. And it was only shown select theaters after that (New York,Chicago, LA, San Fran, etc...). Think it comes out on DVD/blu-ray ptrtty soon (Ok so i downloaded it :shh: )

my afternoons with margueritte (french with EST)

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1455151/

not sure how many will see this or be interested ... it's a simple non-traditional love story that has been written and experienced in many movies before this ... the movie plays out as expected and there really is no drama to this drama ... having said that - the performances give this film the heart and tenderness that is required for it to succeed ...
  • I'm looking forward to seeing The Ides of March and 50/50.

Just saw Contagion the other day, I thought it was great. Nice to see a movie that has solid science behind it for a change. I'm super excited for The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.... David Fincher is great, and the cover of Immigrant Song they use on the trailer is SICK.

Why remake 'Footloose'?? Can't the first one stand alone? Geez.

    two things:

    1. it's a clear indication of how unoriginal hollywood is these days ... remaking everything ...
    2. this film will probably do well - which is a clear indication of how sad the movie-going audience is

Saw 50/50 tonight. When i saw the PJ20 screening at the troc in philly they had raffles afterwards. One of the prizes was a 50/50 shirt. I was wondering why that was included now i know why (they played Yellow Ledbetter at the end of the movie). Didn't really surprise me too much (mainly cuz the movie takes place in Seattle). Good movie and decent soundtrack. Had some funny moments and touching ones as well :)

I Saw the Ides of March Monday, thought it was interesting and good but not as great as I expected. I don't want to say why without giving away any of the story lines.

Watched "Nowhere Boy" last night with my dad. We both loved it and didn't want it to end. Really good movie and focus on John Lennon's younger days. Definitely recommend it to any Beatles/John Lennon fans.

I saw it on TV a year or so ago, and I didn't really care for it. It seemed very hokey to me, and I thought it reeked of being Made For TV, so I was surprised to find out it was actually a feature film. I didn't feel like any of The Beatles were cast very well. To me "Backbeat" is the way to go for early Beatles biopics, although it's been a while since I've seen it so don't hold me to that. But I liked it at the time. That's just my opinion though.

It's not really a Beatles movie; just focuses on John Lennon's childhood, him starting to reunite with his mother, and the early creation of The Beatles. I will agree that Paul and George weren't cast very well, but Aaron Johnson looks a lot like teen John.

It's definitely not a Made For TV film. Far from it.
