  • Season 1 was incredible. Season 2 overall was a disappointment. I felt like I was watching a medieval version of Lost. Too many characters, plot lines, etc. I hope Season 3 is better.

You really thought so? I think people who haven't read the books might have that viewpoint. You're right, there are TONS of characters and it is hard to keep up. I definitely suggest reading the books. I'm more excited about Season 3 than any other show I've ever watched...the 3rd book is hands-down my all-time favorite, I hope you enjoy it!

The problem was that Season 2 was more of a mash-up of books 2 and 3, whereas Season 1 was just Book 1. So the plot lines progressed normally in Season 1...season 2 was a bit chaotic at times.

Having watched season 1, then having and read all 5 books before season 2, I'd definitely have to back Mamasan.... knowing who all the characters are makes it so much more enjoyable.

Martin's character development in the books is huge, and doesn't translate to season 2 like it did for Ned Stark in season 1 as HBO just doesn't have the time to develop all the important characters unfortunately....
Houston, Texas... Believe it or not, there are 7 million people here... must be a couple of fans who'd love to see you play.

Well excuse me. Sorry. I don't watch this show so I don't read this thread. I saw an article about this and knew people here watched the show so I thought I'd pass it along. I will never do that again. Sorry.

That would be funny if it wasn't so true...seriously, I have never read anything that had SUCH great detail about all of these elaborate meals. Food's like a character or something!

I guess this is for people that have read the books. I just started the 1st book and have seen the first 2 seasons of the show. If I can read the the first 2 books before the third season starts, am I better off waiting to read the third book until the season is over or watch and read the third book/season simultaneously?

The third season is roughly going to be the 1st half of the third book, with some stuff they had to leave out from book two. I would say read the third book, otherwise you have to wait 2 years. And A LOT goes down in the third book- its going to be awesome.

I would agree - the 3rd book is an incredibly fast read because of how amazing it is. I would also suggest finishing it before 3/30. Personally, I find that when I see a movie before I read a book that makes the book less enjoyable and takes me much longer to read.

The books will add depth to your watching experience.

I can't imagine even splitting it in two season they can capture everything from the books in seasons 3/4

    Read it :D
After that you'll be hooked and wil have to read the next two as well
