im 8 episodes into season 1 and im loving it. This is so cool. I read the first book, but decided to hell with it and just watch the show anyways without reading the rest of the series.
The woman who plays The Queen or the mother of Geoffry is a convincing actress because I despise her character on the show.

yeah cersei a bitch alright. if you want to see lena headey in a role you wont depsise her in i suggest gossip. its a good film regardless
the books give you so much more than the series ever will be able to.
her performance on season 2, 'blackwater' episode is emmy award worthy.
i think a lot of the cast deserves to at least be nominated but even then their chances are probably not that great with shows like Boardwalk Empire, Homeland, Breaking Bad around.. Sean Bean definitely should've been nominated for the first season..
anyways.. it's only been three months since the second season ended and it feels like it's been ages.. :(

Agree. I never got into Boardwalk and I'm behind in watching Homeland.
I think the young actresses are fantastic too (Arya, Sansa) - now that I think about it, everybody's really really good.

ya ... but by the time you get to book 4 and 5 ... you realize that detail is like adding origami to burger and fries ... it's just not necessary ...
The next two seasons of the show should be fantastic. They better step it up a notch though Season 2 was not as good as i wanted it to be. And my opinion is all taht matters as you know

There's no way that the next 2 seasons won't be amazing. I mean, just the storyline alone is incredible...I don't think they'll botch it. And if they do...I shall be writing some very angry letters indeed!

OK! I finally finished book 1 last night. My thoughts ...
The Good:
Some great plot arcs. Especially enjoyed Ned's, Arya's, Snow's, and Dany's
Awesome detail. With the maps I could totally visualize the lay of the land
The author wasn't afraid to kill off key figures
The Bad:
Considering how detailed Ned's journey was, his death had little detail. I suspect a doppelgänger (at least I hope) and that he still lives.
After finishing, I realized there was an index that spelled out all the clans and names .... Probably could have finished this book 10 months ago if I had known ... :fp:

Some reason, whenever I take a poop, I imagine I'm a Dothraki, but I dont do anything weird like throw poop or eat a heart or anything like that. I just have long hair and a beard and have been accused of being slightly barbaric at times... Fit right in.
Im also actually putting off watching the second half, just to let it all marinade for a bit.
Ooooh, ***Spoiler***, I cringed when the Dothraki poured melted gold/silver on that guys head to kill him! That was sick and poetic.
