When I heard the rumor of season 3 being split, it was that they would shoot it back to back. So hopefully HBO has agreed to that.

    Well that's great news!

Am i being too critical or was last night's show a bit meh. As a book reader i did not mind but i don't think a lot happened for those who have not read to keep the interest level high.

I was highly looking forward to the scene between Janos and Tyrion and even that fell a little short. (looks like they are morphing people as no way in hell Bronn was the nights watch leader although i do like they still kept the question in there about if Bronn would kill a baby for him i think that is important)

Davos as all would expect is the pimp we though he would be :D

Um how often does Jon Snow go wandering around in the night without his big bad wolf? I don't remember that happening in the book and i'm pretty sure it didn't because Ghost is always there to mess anything that moves up. Whatever though They obviously want to tell th Craster story a little differnetly seems like they are sticking to the most important stuff.

I thought the episode was a bit meh too. And some of it was hard to follow, even if you've read the books. My husband (who hasn't read the books) kept saying, "Who's that?" I don't remember Stannis being so boring in the books either. And I thought the sex scenes - I think there were 3, seemed sort of, "Ha ha, we're HBO, look at us showing sex scenes."

Thought the Arya and Jon Snow stuff was great though.

I agree. I remember thinking that if I hadn't read the books I would have been completely lost.

Nice touch though - I did spot Davos's finger bag. The details are pretty incredible, I'm going to do a rewatch just to catch any little stuff I might have missed.

I haven't read the books, and it was a bit confusing for me at times although I generally understood who was who and people's backstories since I've read about the books. My wife was completely lost and was asking me who everyone was.

Rats, I meant to post this on Easter. Only people on this thread will get it. My husband makes Easter eggs every year, like paints them and stuff (he blows out all the yolks and gunk inside so they last). This year he did Game of Thrones dragon eggs.

i totally agree.. i keep waiting for the story to really pick up, hope it does in episode 3.. i felt like the sex scenes were wasting my time.. :)
but still, a weaker Game of Thrones episode is better than other shows..

    also - cool eggs!

I wish the Daenerys storyline would pick up a little. It seems they are dragging that one quite a bit in favor of introducing all of the new characters.

Dany doesn't do too much in Clash but her storyline at the end of it is pretty rockin.

So i've had 4 friends who have not read the books tell me they are confused as hell after two episodes and havinga hard time following all the plot lines. Most also mentioned they end up wanting more from certain plot lines and feel like they are just getting a snippit. :(

I think they are considering stopping watching because of this. Are my friends just ADD?

when i first heard about the show ... i thought how the heck are they gonna be able to do it? ... it's not surprising really ... and really, it's only going to get worse because there are even more characters to introduce ...

to be honest - i was meh with the first season and i may eventually watch the shows but they hold no interest for me ...

Yeah, your friends might just be ADD. I have yet to read the books (I have a huge backlog of things to read), yet I'm able to follow everything thus far.

    Back from Mexico...

Finished A Storm of Swords, read A Feast for Crows, and am a couple hundred pages into A Dance with Dragons... I pretty much spent all my time on the beach with a drink in one hand, and GRRM in the other

Also re-watched the first season of GoT... much better the second time around after reading the books... a noticed a lot more subplots and stuff going on that I never picked up the first time through...

gonna try and catch up on the new season the weekend... only 2 episodes behind and I have them torrented already, so just need to find two hours...

at work now, but I so wish I was home with my nose burried in A Dance with Dragons... I found FFC very frustrating at first, as I wanted to read about Jon, Tyrion, Dany, etc... not all these new characters, but by the end of the book I was loving it...

All in all I had a very game of thrones vacation... was driving the GF mad with it...
Houston, Texas... Believe it or not, there are 7 million people here... must be a couple of fans who'd love to see you play.

Anyone else notice that the actor for Gendry looks very different from season 1 to season 2? I haven't been able to find out if its a different actor or not.

Ok...someone who's recently read the second book, help me. Did ANY of the last 15 minutes of the 2nd episode of season 2 happen in the book?

I remember there being an allusion to Stannis and Melisandre, I remember there being an allusion to Craster sacrificing sons to the white walkers (and that's why Craster is still there, unmolested by said walkers), but I do NOT remember Craster actually sacrificing, Jon following him, Jon getting caught, a white walker taking the baby, or Stannis banging Melisandre on the table in the shape of the 7 Kingdoms (to which my wife says, "jeez, wouldn't that hurt? It looks real sharp" ).

Someone help me clarify these apparent inaccuracies. Its been so long since I read book 2...

Disclaimer: I thoroughly enjoyed the second episode. I am NOT going to let my having read the books before hand ruin my experience of the show. Its awesome! I just want to check my recollection of the books against how they play out in the show.

Really? 2nd episode was it for me. It just seemed long. Last night there was a ton of stuff going on, fast moving and digging deep into the politics of King Landing. We got to meet Brienne, They spent lots of time on the Greyjoys and Shea that could have been compacted a little. My only "complaint"

Miss Danny. I'm hoping next episode they dedicate half the hour to her.

    .
The last bit in the Night Lands (episode 2) was not in the book. It was implied but never seen. Plus how often does out boy J- Snow go walking without ghost tagging along.

As for last night's episode. I liked it. The pacing in episode two bothered me this one was better. I was sad when Yoren died in the books and I was sad here as well he was a bad ass. I like how he went all Borimir on their ass after he got shot with a crossbow.

They changed up Arya's capture to Harrenhal. I do'nt mind it. What i do hope they keep is the scene with the Tickler. That seemed important.

Poor Lommy he was so foolish thinking they were going to carry him.

I forgot about the bit with Pycelle. and Shagga sayign we have no goats

Theon's true colors are starting to show. His situation is difficult havign to choose between his blood family and the family that took care of him but he is such a weasel for his choice

The actress playing Brienne is perfect. It was nice to meet her. I always liked Margery Tyrell in the books but we only saw her from a distance. You knew she had a good head on her shoulders. She is even better on the show though! The whole line of would you like to take me from behind and pretend i'm my brother :o

I thought it was solid last night, the Kings landing story line is progressing well. Tyrion playing everyone was fun to watch. I think they cast Margery and Brienne well, and it should be great to see them develop. I think they are doing a good job showing how conflicted Theon is between his family and the Starks. Looking forward to what happens in Harrenhal.

At least we got a glimpse of Summer, so maybe we get Shaggy Dog next week? The CG of the wolves has been pretty good in the glimpses they have shown.

SPOILER (for those that haven't read the books)

Does anyone else hate how they are dealing with Renly (and Margaery Tyrell)?

In the books, Renly is flamboyant, gregarious, well-liked. There is NOTHING said about him being gay (or even implied for that matter, unless you count his "rainbow guard" ). Insert political rant: as someone very supportive of gay rights, it's frustrating that the producers/directors/storyboard writers took the book's description of his out-going and flamboyant personality, along with the reference to his "rainbow guard" and turned that into Renly being gay. It just reeks of an HBO attempt to be "edgy." End rant. :D

***** Deleted, sent to another thread -- no spoiler here! ***** :)

Again, for the record, I'm not trying to be a downer here. I like the show a lot, its well done in virtually every respect. But on the whole, when the show is true to Martin's story, I think its light years better than when it's not. Martin's story, as depicted on screen, comes across as genius storytelling (think of how well Baelish and Tyrion's scheming has played out so far, both of which are true to the books). When the show deviates from Martin's plot however, its flimsy and obvious.

Brienne's character looks almost exactly as I pictured her to. Someone mentioned the Tickler's interrogation of Arya, Hot Pie and others...from the previews of next week's episode, I think that part is definitely included.

The CG of the wolves has been pretty good in the glimpses they have shown.

Agree 100%. I was wondering how that would turn out. The wolves look huge, but not cartoony at all.

I wondered about Renly as well, even from last season, but since GRRM is so involved in the show, I would imagine that he either always meant for him to be gay, or supported the writers portrayal of him that way.

SPOILER (for those that haven't read the books)

Does anyone else hate how they are dealing with Renly (and Margaery Tyrell)?

That thread might be better for your question since your post drops some big time spoilers nice and big spoiler tag but it would suck if someone someone reads that and doesn't want to be spoiled.

It was pretty obvious to me when reading the books the first time that Renly was gay. I'm glad they did not name it the rainbow guard that is a little over the top. Now,i did not pick up on it in Game of Thrones but by the time Clash of Kings came around i had no doubts that he was. GRRM is not over the top with it like HBO is but then again we don't have a Renly POV or a Margery POV in the books. So that makes sense it is all speculation.
