Oh boy, this is some good stuff. Watch out though.
My other piece of advice....GO.TO.OMMEGANG. Quite possibly my favorite place on earth.
it's so fucking good.
one of these days, i'll get up to cooperstown and will have visit ommegang. hennepin is another one of theirs i am quite fond of.
Yessir. There are a couple different ways to do it but my recommendation would be to plan it around a concert at Ommegang. They have some sweet shows and you can camp out on the property and it is basically the greatest thing ever. For the bigger shows I doubt they do it, but they have a massive bon fire all night after the show too.
I would plan that at the end of a couple night trip. One night or so stay in cooperstown, do the hall of fame and all that jazz, go out to dinner, then the next night head to ommegang for a concert. You will most definitely not regret it.
That sounds awesome. I think I remember you and JP or someone talking about this before.
on a day like today that might involve a LOT of beer drinking, might it be best to stick to a lite macro-brew? B-)
If I had known then what I know now...

at least it's not pumpkin but the brandy snifter glass is kind of femmy
you're kidding. right?
I'd probably just go straight out of the bottle.
When you order a beer with an alcohol content that high at a bar or something, it usually comes in a snifter. Someone else here can probably tell you the exact reason but I think it has something to do with the aroma or something.
Usually its a combo of the high alcohol content as well as cost of production in addition to the shape of the snifter made for enjoying the hoppy aroma. It varies from beer to beer and bar to bar.
But you can sometimes find places that do full pours of high alcohol beers. I go to a local pizza place the does full pours of Breckenridge 471 and that sucker is 9.2%
GIMME GIMME GIMME!!!! I have easy access to Prairie Bomb! 's.... let's talk deals before that awesome IPA goes stale
Enjoying a melange No. 3 right now... 16% ABV beer was a bad choice on a thursday.... i mean, it's an awesome beer, but I have to work tomorrow morning.....
Houston, Texas... Believe it or not, there are 7 million people here... must be a couple of fans who'd love to see you play.

There's 10 singles left for 4.95 still. I might grab them all for trade or a rainy day:)
seriously.... buy them and trade them to me.
I will happily send you anything I can get my hands on here in Texas (which is growing day-by-day.... a huge population and being in the middle of the country has opened us up to a lot of breweries in the past few months with the loosening of some beer laws.... despite TABC's best efforts)....
mike - or jammin - if you guys want to trade for any Bombs! let me know (they're around $8 a pop in texas, which is terrible compared to Oklahoma prices, but at least we get them).... Prairie is pretty much the "hottest" brewery in the country right now and I have good access to both Noir and Bomb!.... there is a fresh batch running through houston right now... shouldn't bee too much issue to land either... I just wish the TABC would hurry up and approve both vanilla and coffee noir, and pirate bomb..... dying to try all three and the texas allotment is literally sitting in shelton brothers warehouse waiting on the approval.....
finally had my first Abyss tonight.... 2013 reserve.... it was great, but once again (apologies to people at deschutes) i should have waited for the "best after" date.... some more time in the bottle definitely would have done the blending of all the different strains of beer some good....

that is a ton of IPA. you must not of had any palate left at the end of that tasting session.

it's good... but it's lacking that "wow" factor... according to the bottles it was packaged on 12/20/2013.... by the time I got it, it was 2 months in the bottle... guessing that it's a lot better fresh...
