Drinking a Lagunitas Brown Shugga'. Not exactly cold enough to enjoy a "winter" beer down here in Fort Myers, but it's still damn tasty.

I had two solid IPAs tonight at my local Hurricane Grill & Wings at Coconut Point in Estero: Bear Republic Racer 5 and Green Flash West Coast IPA. I'm so glad that both those breweries have finally made their way down here to southwest Florida.

  • anyone here had a bitches brew from DFH? I bought one yesterday. Anyone cellared one or let it sit for a few weeks at all?

I had a few from last years batch, and I really love it. I've actually still got one from 2011 waiting for me for when I get back home in February. Can't wait to crack it along with a Hellhound on my Ale.

I bought 2 bottles, one was drank, and it was very tastey, the other has gone to a cellar.

Ask me your question above in a year or two and I'll have a better answer. The bottle does say that it "ages with the best of 'em, just like the music!"

By the way.... has anyone here here had the Sierra Nevada Narwhale?

It made it into Texas this year, and didn't even make it onto the shelf... I haphazardly stumbled into Spec's and found the last 4-pack the beer guy had.... I've had it for a week or 2 now and haven't cracked a bottle... I'm probably going to try one this weekend, however I'm wondering if anyone has attempted to cellar this RIS, and if it's worth the effort?

    thanks a bunch!
Houston, Texas... Believe it or not, there are 7 million people here... must be a couple of fans who'd love to see you play.

I'm still sitting on one from the original bottling in 2010.

    by the way-

ommegang sickle ond sythe (sp?) is very good. I'm not getting all the notes others are getting but it's a fine drink and after about twenty minutes in the glass opens up very well.

So, after some time out of the game as a result of mono I came back last weekend to the beverage that we all know and love. I entered a kegged version of my homebrew pumpkin beer. I added belgian candi sugar to the boil to up the ABV from 4.5 to 6.4%, and slightly sweetened the ale. It came in 2nd out of 40 beers and I got whamboozled in about 20 minutes from taking the month off...haha.

Drinking a Cigar City Maduro brown ale. First time trying it from a can (poured into a glass of course). Good stuff as usual from CCB.

Was extremely fortunate to have won 2 tickets to the San Diego Brewers Guild Festival yesterday! Over 100 breweries - mostly local to the region - what a phenomenal day...here is a list of 4oz tastes I had:

Stone - Barrel Aged Smoked Porter
Stone - Ruination IPA w/ Habanero
    Ballast Point Habanero Sculpin
    Societe Russian Imperial Stout
    Societe Apprentice American IPA
Karl Strauss Peanut Butter Cup Stout
    Lost Abbey Judgement Ale
San Diego Brew Co Infinitude IPA
    Gordon Biersch Winterbock
    Coronado Brew Co Stout
    Mother Earth Midnite Express Stout
    Mother Earth Siren Blonde Ale
    Belching Beaver IPA
    Wet N Reckless IPA
    Breakwater Honey Brown
    Hillcrest Hoppy Endings IPA
    Rough Draft Hop Therapy DIPA

Got to chat with the brewers/owners of most and then had my pic taken with Greg Koch (founder/co-owner Stone) and BS'd with him for 10 mins. What cool people. And what a neat place to live with the fantastic beer scene.

    PROST!

Had a 2011 Goose Island Sofie last night. Very good beer. I drank it one year to the day after it was bottled (11/12/11).
