This season is DONE. The question is now, as a team selling, who do we sell?

Too bad we didn't sell/trade F-Mart when he was still worth a damn as a young prospect..

Perhaps they've overvalued Pelfrey as well. Pelfrey looks very flustered when things don't go his way.

Maybe, but I'd think that would have to happen when Reyes shows he has recovered. Frankly, the Mets should go after Halladay and if Toronto is interested in Niese, Pelfrey and Martinez they should pull the trigger.

Ouch. According to SI's Jon Heyman, the Mets could have had Halladay for Martinez, Niese, Parnell & tejada, and TURNED IT DOWN!

Is it true that the Mets turned down an offer for Halladay. I saw it on MlB channel.

I heard Francesa's opening hour yesterday where he talked about the Mets should get Halladay. He also said that Beltran is pissed with the Mets for the way they handled his injury..shit, I don't want my boy to go..and also, Francesa put the fork in us, so the Mets are officially done for the season..there is always next year..

As for the trade, I don't think it was Omar's call. The Wilpon's don't want to spend the cash..

I saw this too. If its true, Minaya should be fired on the spot.

As for trading Reyes, I think he's still too young and too good to get rid of. Right now I'd try and trade Sheffield, but its true, there really isn't anyone to sell on this team. I'd also trade any of our prospects/rookies, but they don't seem to be worth shit now. We definitely should have sold high on Murphy too, who was a nobody who had a great month and a half and now for a whole season has shown his true ability.

This paragraph in today's Daily News was interesting:

Regardless, there's clearly dysfunction in the organization. One recent example: The scouting community has been abuzz with an account of Mets VP Tony Bernazard going into a profanity-laced tirade directed at the organization's manager of baseball operations at Citi Field, which left witnesses in the section behind home plate aghast. According to two sources, scouts had settled in a row behind the plate during a recent game. Bernazard arrived and found a Diamondbacks scout sitting in the seat he wanted. When Bernazard's underling suggested that the Mets VP wait until the end of the half-inning to change the seating arrangement in order to minimize the disruption, Bernazard went ballistic in a rant against his Ivy League-educated deputy.

To help clear things up, Pope Francesa went straight to the horse's mouth this morning and the Mets deny that any such deal was ever on the table. The Mets could be lying to him, but who would lie to the Pope, right? Anyway, I don't want to get too excited about the prospect of actually getting Halladay..there is no chance in hell..

yea you think a 32 year old shortstop is to young and to good. i dont care what anyone says, hes old then 27.

the mets couldn't pull the trigger on the halladay for one reason, bernie madeoff. mets lost 800 million dollars to him and thats affected the team so much that omar can't go out and get players.

I don't understand what you are saying about Reyes...You consider him old at 27, or you think he is older than 27, and in fact really 32? I'm confused..

And the Mets have more than enough money to pay Halladay, especially being that both Delgado's and Wagner's contracts will be coming off..just a bunch of fucking bullshit this team is..

I believe his age and don't see a reason not to. Halladay is under contract till next year. I think Delgado alone is making more than him per year. If only he falls off next year, that's already more than enough to cover Halladay's price tag. Now signing him to an extension could prove difficult, but saying that the Mets can't afford Halladay is utterly ridiculous...but in any case, there was no deal on the table because anyone would have accepted the trade, even the shitty inept Mets..

you forget to add veron wells contract. so you're saying jon heyman made that report up and is a liar. thats pretty bold of you to say considering jon isn't like those clowns at espn and checks all his sources. don't forgot jon still has sources inside the mets organization

We're just talking about getting Halladay for a bunch of prospects. Doesn't look like anyone is willing to take on the Wells contract. Definitely not insinuating that Jon is a liar at all. There is some thought that the Mets themselves drummed this up in order to give more credence to their shitty ass farm system/prospects. I would not be fucking surprised, especially after hearing Omar yesterday on the telecast. What a fucking scumbag motherfucker.....oh and even Toronto has denied that any such offer was ever on the table...the Mets would have taking the deal..it would have been a steal..

well then i guess we can agree to disagree on the rumored halladay trade. i'll still take heymans word of omar and the jays. everyone knows our farm system has sucked since omar took over. murphy is a career minor leaguer as is evans. what happened to the great flame thrower ed kunz that omar and the mets were was so high on. niese is at best a #3 starting pitcher. i wish our farm system was like everyone else around the league that has good players in the system. all omar does is make the big splashes and thats it

well then i guess we can agree to disagree on the rumored halladay trade. i'll still take heymans word of omar and the jays. everyone knows our farm system has sucked since omar took over. murphy is a career minor leaguer as is evans. what happened to the great flame thrower ed kunz that omar and the mets were was so high on. niese is at best a #3 starting pitcher. i wish our farm system was like everyone else around the league that has good players in the system. all omar does is make the big splashes and thats it

I don't disagree..like I said prior, the Mets probably leaked and faked it on purpose, thus Jon reported appropriately, the info he received from his inside man..it's not about taking sides, you know? Anyway, we can't even beat the fucking Nats!!! Please let this season end..motherfucker..
'I want to hurry home to you
put on a slow, dumb show for you
    and crack you up
so you can put a blue ribbon on my brain
    god I'm very, very frightening
    and I'll overdo it'
