So I'll just lie down and wait for the dream

i didnt vote for the guy, but i wish him the best.......greatest country on earth. god bless it.
I think the reason this is such a big deal, as far as presidential elections go, is that this is the first election in 20 years (since 1988) where there has been any sort of leadership consensus. The last 2 elections were each decided by 1 state amid a number of controversies and voting anomalies. It presented a picture of a very bitterly divided and resentful country and democrats felt cheated. Before that, Clinton won handily in the electoral college, but Ross Perot took significant portions of the vote from popular republican candidates. Regardless of whether it cost Dole/Bush I the election, it made republicans feel cheated. So for the past 4 presidential elections, one side has felt like the other's president was illegitimate and "stole" the election. Things have been incredibly partisan and contentious.
Now I don't think that's going away, but this is the first election since Bush I that seemed to have a clear, unquestioned winner. Certainly many people are still angry, but it's not the same kind of rage as that felt the last few times around. I think America has badly needed that sense of certainty and unity. We have a consensus president and that's a good thing. I think it also makes it easier for people to be excited, since they don't have to defensively rebut accusations that the guy being sworn in was actually elected fairly.0 -

If that's what you chose to read in that, that's on you.
Sorry but don't turn me into another 'america is better then everyone' person when I am not. You should get to know me better before you attack my words. Besides The Jeagler is the one who said America is the best country in the world! Lol! And I'm the one with the repercussions. Ahh this place never changes."I'm not present, I'm a drug that makes you dream"0 -

Don't take it personal. Dunk's got America envy. Every time he sees someone happy to live here, he posts about how cool Scotland is and how Americans are deluded to be happy about being here. It's like buying a corvette to compensate for other things.0 -

you can be giddy all you want. but no, the media does not have the right to be giddy. they have the right to report the news and thats it. they can comment on the historical nature of what took place today. but just flipping back and forth all the different stations and listening to them gush over this guy makes me want to puke. there was an fdr reference every 2 minutes. lets let the guy govern at least one day before we anoint him the greatest president ever! jesus h christ!www.myspace.com0 -

it just gets very boring.oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.0 -
