    i haven't visited here in quite some time!
    loving all the pics and videos that i can actually see --- work blocks most of the fun stuff :-P I am going to need to post some new pics of our cats!

    The shelter near us is holding a contest. It is for the chance to get to name a litter of 5 kittens (born to a 7 month old mama cat!!) and the winner was determined by whoever donated the most to help with their care (food, medical stuff, shots, spay/neuter). The kittens are being fostered by a volunteer right now.

    SO Ironically I heard about the contest just a day or so after my uncle passed away last month (cancer. He was only 54 :( diagnosed in November, gone in May). He was the BIGGEST cat lover i know! He always had a whole troop of cats that he and my aunt spoiled like crazy- they didn't have any kids and so the cats were like their kids. My uncle also traveled down south from the area I live in (Chicago) on a couple of occasions to rescue displaced animals after Hurricane Katrina. So I rallied some family members together and pooled our donations into one and it looks like we are going to win! The shelter messaged me this morning and told me and said i should decide what names we want to use- there are 3 boys and 2 girls. We are going to name the cats after him/his nicknames and the things he loved. I thought that was a fitting tribute :) He was definitely the "fun" uncle and my favorite by far. He had a huge heart and always was way more concerned with what he could give to and do for others than what he received in return.

    The girl names are kinda tough to figure out!!

    What a lovely story Kelly, you have done a wonderful job, your Uncle will be watching from above and smiling and thinking...these kittens are going to have a great life.....and all thanks to my niece O:-)

    As for girl names one could be named after your aunty since I'm sure she was one of his favourites in life:-) Your whole family sounds like they are such a giving family, and it's lovely to see that in this world :x

    My uncle was married to my aunt Karen, who is my mom's sister. They were married 25 years before they divorced about 5-6 years ago. They remained the best of friends, even after my aunt moved out to Las Vegas. They talked daily, and probably even more after his diagnosis -the outlook was not good from the start. He married his girlfriend Cindy who he had been with for a few years right after they found out he was sick (he had no insurance and was in considerable pain). My aunt and Cindy were friendly with each other and got along just fine. We are thinking of naming the 2 girl kittens after them- Karen and Cindy. Just trying to decide if anyone would be offended by that? I don't think so but people sure can be weird! :))

    Kelly: I don't thing anyone should be upset by that, It's a very sweet gesture. Especially because everyone was friends. What boys names have been picked out? What colours are the kittens, can you take pics and post here. Even if you don't win, sounds like you've had fun participating!!!

    These are my three furbabies: Top right is Tabby Lu, she's a Maine Coon, she's 11 years old this month, she's the queen. Under her is Beans, with the mustache, he'll be 1 year old in August, he is a holy terror, lol. Next to him, the Siamese is Eliot Spencer, he'll be 4 in August, and he is a mama's boy, he escorts me to bed every night, he's a big baby. (The blacked out pic is my dog, whom I already posted in the doggie thread....lol)

    My Siamese here, Eliot Spencer, this is him just now waiting for a treat...I was eating a cold flour tortilla, and he likes them too...so I have to share with him...I just tear off a little piece and give to him, he's so funny.

    What a pretty cat. My parents have a Siamese now too. My sister is working as a social worker and a family needed to get rid of her. My parents were without a kitty after their old one, Werner, who was my cat and lived with them since I went to Finland to study wayyyy back, had passed away. They wanted another cat, but were not ready for a kitten. Helga came to them and has been blooming ever since. They are all very happy :)

    oh my!! SO ADORABLE!!! My aunt had a siamese and a tonkinese (sp?) and I always thought they were gorgeous! Love the coloring!
