What's with kitty CBG? Has CRF been excluded? So common in older cats..... (my 21year old has issues with that - down to just 2kg).

what does crf mean? gosh my 2 year old cat is so slender and I don't think he ate while we went away, even though my neighbor checked on him 2x/day.

They don't think it's CRF (that chronic renal failure iluvcats), although I'm sure her kidney functioning must be declining. The vet couldn't identify anything wrong with her physically. Maybe it's stress. I bought her some nutrient paste that's supposed to have extra vitamins of calories. She doesn't care for it much, but of course my other cat loves it

Oh wow - 2kg...my kitty is still about 7 pounds, which is still pretty good, but she loses weight every time we bring her back to the vet. 21 years is awesome though! I'm hoping we make it into the 20s :) Are they doing anything specific in terms of treatment?

iluvcats - some cats are just slender by nature. One of mine is and nothing is wrong with her (we did get her checked for hypothyroidism). And as long as your kitty is eating now... some cats just don't like separation and won't really eat!

CBG - Tinker is on a daily tablet which should help some. They have suggested these specialised foods but she doesn't eat them, so the vet said just give her what she wants. She's quite far gone with this CRF but that's the way it goes at her age. She's sort of holding her weight at the moment but there will come a time where she will waste too much and that will be 'the time'.

So my kitty still isn't eating much. She'll eat some turkey deli meat (it has to be a specific kind) and she'll lick the gravy from her cat food, but won't eat much food. She loves her fountain though, and she's drinking a bunch. We brought her back to the vet and they took an x-ray and said everything looked clear - no blockages or anything (just a little gas because she's been on a stool softener for the dehydration). He said her blood tests looked good for any cat,not just a 16 year old cat. So we don't know why she's not eating. We're cutting back on the stool softener to see if that might be upsetting her stomach. Any ideas of what we might be able to feed her?
I bought some Turkey Deli meat yesterday...
My kitty (Samantha) thought it was a WONDERFUL IDEA!!!!!!

    The Fat Fuck!!!!

    hehehehehehehehehehehehe

would that make her a cat fuck

That's what I'm doing right now - just giving her whatever she will eat. She actually liked the baby food. She's always been finicky. I have just about every brand of cat food in the house right now as well as anything I think she'd be willing to eat. My other cat is in heaven  I'm glad Tinker is holding her own. It's sad to watch them slowing down. I just really want them to be happy and comfortable.

She's happy! The other cats may think it's not fair that she gets extra and 'nicer' food! Her age and ailments don't stop her from going through all the bins on rubbish collection days!

Aww. I don't brush Nauhuri every day, but still regularly. Gave her a good brushing the other day, the amount of hair that came off her.. Though looking at the sheets next to my pillow, you could never tell.

It's always fun brushing them the first time in a long time. You get off enough fur to make a pillow.

Daughter started volunteering at a cat shelter - 'threatening' to bring 'work' home! She's a Cat Socialiser - how cool of a job?!?! She has a number of assigned cats and she needs to play with them, brush them, excersise them, take care of them - make sure they're as happy as they can be!

I think my husband has sort of resigned himself - this morning he asked 'So, do you think our 7th cat will be ginger?'

Sadly, I did have to put my foot down... we just can't have another one at the moment (due to numbers, very old one and very traumatised one - both having lil' 'accidents' for the time being.....). I might relent though...

I've had to do that too. Mine are getting old, and while I think the one would love a kitten playmate, the other one is too temperamental. I want them to be happy in their old age :)
