If Widmore knows Mrs. Hawkins, why doesn't he use her help to get back to the island?

I mean it seems relatively simple for the O6 to get back but yet Widmore has been trying for many years to get back and the best he did was send a freighter. It just seems odd that he wouldn't have gone to Mrs. Hawkins to figure out a better plan to get back with his resources.

    Exactly. Inconsistency.

maybe there was a falling out between the 2.
I don't recall how they know each other... but I'm sure they'll give us a reason he doesn't go to her.

Widmore gave Desmond Mrs. Hawkins' address so they have to know each other.

I would not call it inconsistency. Ben was the one who said all those things about Widmore. He always tells the truth.

the biggest thing that annoyed me about last nights episode was why didn't jack ask ben what happened to him?! i mean he shows up on the plane all jacked up and in a sling, but jack just sat there like everything was normal! wouldn't that be the first thing out of anyone elses mouths?

Well...uh...it's Ben...Jack's probably just so used to seeing people being pissed at him.
    This made me laugh!

But I wondered about that too. And if it was Sayid that got medieval on Ben's ass, wouldn't Ben be dead?

I posted a little earlier on this, I don't think Ben had to be on the plane, unless he was taking the place of someone. I think he is trying to get back on the Island, but he does not need to be. I think only the Oceanic 6 had to be on the plane.
Plus we don't know if Benry made it to the island. Thus far we only know Jack, Hurley and Kate made it. We don't even knw if the plane crashed. Perhaps as the plane flew into the island's radius, an annoying time shift happened and the island snatches the Oceanic 5.5 from the plane, and the flight continues to Guam where Benry deplanes with a very pissed off expression. Because he said once he moves the island he "can't return". P

Perhaps Widmore suffered a similar fate in the 50's, having to move the island and he can no longer return and thats why he has to dispatch freighters and such.

Kind of what I think- I don't think Ben had to be on the plane, but it was a way for him to get back. It may be that it is bad that he returned.

So do you remember how Ben tells Charles Widmore that he is going to kill Penny? Well, if you pay attention to the setting when Ben called Jack (and he is all beaten up) you would that he is on the water. My latest theory is that Ben goes to the boat and kills Penny, getting his ass kicked by Desmond in the process. He escapes, but it was all in an effort to get Desmond on his course back to the island.

I dunno. Ben running afoul of Desmond is similar to my theory of Sayid trying some ninja moves on him. Do you seriously think Ben could get the better of Desmond? Especially after discovering Ben had killed Penny? I'd find it more believable that that's how Ben looked after Penny was through with him. He may have succeeded in killing her but she fought him till his bug eyes nearly popped out.

You got to remember Ben is a tricky little bastard. I mean if he still has that whacking pole he used on those two guys in the desert, he could've easily taken out Desmond when his guard was down.

There's one thing that makes little sense about Benry killing Penny at the marina, which is definitely what they are making us think happened.

How long would it take to sail a 30' sailboat from London to LA? Even using the Panama Canal and getting some nice hurricane force winds I doubt Desmond and Penny could sail it in 3 days time(even if little Charlie manned the spinnaker). Desmond had to have flown to LA to get there in the time he did.

Which is why I think the marina pay phone scene may be a red herring.

This is something that has been bothering me - what airline would accept reservations for 4 members of the Oceanic 6 on the same flight heading to the South Pacific?

I mean Jack, Hurley, Sayid and Sun all presumably would be using their real names and Kate would have to be using some sort of fake id because she's still under probation and can't leave the state.

Wouldn't some sort of red flag go up on the airline computers not letting them be on the same flight sort of how like brothers can't be on the same ship in the navy for example?

I just can't see how any airline would allow all of them to purchase tickets for the same flight.
