But that's exactly the kind of player the Phils would love to have and that would be about the only deal I'd be on board with, yet it probably won't happen.
In a weird way, I'm looking forward to the next two months and seeing guys like Brown and Cloyd come up to play everyday/pitch every 5th day.
This is the problem with becoming the Yankees Of The National League. We never get to see any young & exciting players anymore.
Of course, the actual Yankees never seem to drop off quite the way this team has.
That's because they built they're team around offense in a ballpark that plays smaller than our's, and they did it via free agency. It's interesting - we went the other way and went after pitching, and did it via trades.
I would actually say it's the opposite about moving Lee for Upton. You're getting the younger, club-controlled, player over the highly paid "superstar".0 -
And also we're talking about a team being run by Brian Cashman, who's been driving a Ferrari for well over a decade(and knows how to do it very well), while Amaro was given the same keys but doesn't know how to drive it because Pat Gillick does.0

Bye Shane. We wouldn't have won it in 2008 without him.Alright, alright, alright!

Dom Brown on his way to DC to join the club. He better start in CF because there is no point in calling him up to sit on the bench.Alright, alright, alright!

And it's done. Buh-bye, Shane. Still left a lot of great memories here. Glad we had him in his prime. I'll always stand and applaud when he comes to the plate in another uniform.0

Pence trade still moving along sounds like...0

And he's gone.0

Or maybe not. We'll see...0

Yep, it's done. I just hope we got more than one prospect that's a little less than a Valle-type guy.0

Anybody have the scouting reports? It said Giants "#2 prospect - catcher Tommy Joseph." #2 prospect sounds good...Spectrum 10/27/09; New Orleans JazzFest 5/1/10; Made in America 9/2/12; Phila, PA 10/21/13; Phila, PA 10/22/13; Baltimore Arena 10/27/13; Phila, PA 4/28/16; Phila, PA 4/29/16; Fenway Park 8/7/16; Fenway Park 9/2/18; Asbury Park 9/18/21; Camden 9/14/22; Las Vegas 5/16/24; Las Vegas 5/18/24; Phila, PA 9/7/24; Phila, PA 9/9/24; Baltimore Arena 9/12/24; Pittsburgh 5/16/25; Pittsburgh 5/18/25

Fly ball relief pitcher. Yay.
Yeah, Lindblom. Nah, I was talking about Joseph - the catching prospect - being a Sebastian Valle-type player. I was wondering why they are getting two of the same players. I guess it's better to have more than one to see who pans out and is starting come 2014. Kid's got a lot of pop for his age though.
Figure the outfield will be something like Brown/Mayeberry/Schierholtz with another addition via free agency. I hope it's not Hamilton. Maybe going after Bourn?
And then I figure they look to flip some of these prospects in the winter for Headley.0 -
And now I see relief prospect Seth Rosin. I don't know, they should have gotten more in the prospect area. I guess getting major league player to put on the roster isn't bad. I don't mind Schierholtz against righty's.0

Really like both trades. Thank god pence is gone0

Uh huh. I really was sick of watching him. Phils cut their losses on him. The Pence for Singleton/Cosart/Santana deal could go down as one of worst in franchise history. Singleton could be a superstar. Singleton was available because of a certain albatross of a contract. That contract extension really was the start of this domino effect.
I'm trying to be positive today. I do like both trades quite a bit. Hopefully dbag is stockpiling young arms to make a run at headley this offseason. Brown needs to play well over the next two months to regain his value...whether it be in a trade or as a contributing member of this team.
I have always liked schierholtz. Solid role player...great defender0 -
It is going to be hilarious watching pence track fly balls in SF...huge OF, lot of wind. that's pretty awesome.0
