contemplating a spring training trip finally.

will be headed down with the wife. we're not sure if we are going to combine this with a bigger trip (swing by and catch a game on the way back from mexico or something) or if we will be staying in clearwater for an extended period of time. a few people at work have told us about a cool resort on captiva island, which is about 3 hours away. we'd make a day trip to catch a game if we go there.

i know some of you have been down there before. any advice on where to stay/what to do if we end up doing a week or so in clearwater?

..thanks for all the advice, you sons of bitches.

going to mexico for a week instead. lil 2 year anniversary thing. just booked today.

definitely going down for a long weekend or something next year though.

every time I was down in clearwater it was for work, so I just stayed wherever and let my company pay for it. clearwater is awesome.

just got an email about a bach party in puerto rico at the end of march. awesome. there is nothing better than getting an email with bachelor party in the title

maybe we will see you in the airport.

anyone here still have phils tix? paid mine off this week, but I split my package in half so I don't have to go watch the awfulness as much

yup still involved with a full season ticket plan. get about 11 or 12 games. same seats for playoffs. still enjoyable to go out to the ballpark on a nice warm summer night.

The word love and delmon young should never come in the same sentence. Even worse that amaro says he hopes he's the everyday rf

it doesn't matter what he says. it's not like he will say "well this probably won't work out."

i'm hoping it lights a fire in brown and ruff.

not a big fan of this signing even with the low financial risk. would rather give those young guys a chance and see what we got. if they don't work out can always get an outfielder during the season. this seems like a late 80s early 90s phils signing.

also, this is great...funny that some 'love' the move

I can't wait to see young and howard chasing after bloopers behind first base. will be like watching two elephants

I'm so frustrated that I'm going to send an email asking for a refund on my season tix. and demand that amaro be fired immediately. I will let everyone know how that goes

Besides him being a tool how's and he isn't a good fielder it's a good risk.
    1. 750k is cheap
    2. Contract year will have him on his best behavior
    3. Right handed bat with pop
    4. Protecting for Howard in the 5 hole
    5. He's got everything to prove
    6. Played great in the playoffs last year when it mattered.
    7. Has to be better then Brown.

The pluses out way the negatives imo. I don't wanna hang out with the dude so I could care less about his old ways. Bottom line for me is if he helps let him play!!!

The fact that it is $750k is by faaaaaaaaaar the only reason to mildly say this move is okay, but then again, it is a big league deal, I believe, so unless they have room on the 40 man, his spot is unprotecting someone.

Protection for Howard  I don't think may teams are afraid of Young and his flailing.

He has had everything to prove for 6 or 7 years now. Dude is a bust. Plain and simple.

And uh, best behavior, he got arrested during this past season.

And the fact that Brown wasn't traded a long time ago shows that Amaro has no fucking clue what he is doing. If they think more of Delmon Young than Brown, well then, he should have been traded when he had an ounce of value.

The Yankees are so pathetic right now, it just gives me some satisfaction that the Phillies have fallen a whole lot faster.

The contract alone makes it a risk worth taking. In this park with the same amount of at bats his power #'s should increase. Look at every 5 hole hitter who's hit after Howard, there stats went up. Werth,Pence, Arron Rowand. The 5 hole hitter see's better pitches because of Howard period. Batting behind Howard sure helped Rowand and Werth get PAID. And since then both haven't done shit.

Brown has been a bust and this very likely could be his last chance with the Phillies. Young was a good player a few years ago and this might be his last chance to cash in big time. And i've never been a big Amaro fan so we agree on that.
