seriously. he will be their best bat off the bench

I'm ok with the move as long as he doesn't go anywhere near the rotation. they were desperate for LH bullpen help. love RPs on one year deals (ie, the opposite of what they did with papelturd)

so the best move of this offseason was signing dontrelle willis. YAY!!

Like the move. Extremely cost effective with not a lot of downside since you're getting him for a bargain, is worth a shot using him in LOOGY-type situations(even though this is a major part of Manuel being an idiot - though, I won't put it all on him since he has at least a pitching coach who should be advising him otherwise), plus has decent speed for a pinch-run spot if you desperately needed him, absolutely rakes as a pitcher, and could possibly fill in for a spot-start since you need anywhere up to 9 starters over the course of a season. His numbers were sick against lefties. Now, we just gotta hope that management uses him solely in that role.

hard to believe we all agree on something. i'm a fan of this also. who knows, maybe he completely reinvents himself as a lefty beast out of the pen for the rest of his career. cost effective and the dude's still just 30 years old.

apparently boston is talking with rollins

when I saw the lowrie trade I thought that it made absolutely no sense for boston. signing rollins would justify the lowrie move (somewhat, it's still a perplexing move for boston).

I really hope amaro knows what he's doing with this rollins contract. now that the FA market for IFs has dried up, the phils would be left with someone like yuneski betancourt, who might be the worst player in all of MLB.

the offseason has been so bad that I'm hoping they keep the inept lineup intact. funny. and incredibly frustrating.
  • I'm gonna have to be the lone voice of dissent (so I can't be accused of "not having any opinions"). I just have a terrible feeling we're going to be stuck watching Dontrelle in some crucial situation walking in runners left and right. If he really is used as a LOOGY then it will probably work out well, but I have no confidence that he will actually be used that way.

I have only had a few of the anchor brewery beers, but I have liked all of them.

This year's xmas brew is great. Might have to pick a case or two. I don't sleep anymore so now I have more time to drink

I think willis blows too. I like the move because it only costs them a million bucks...and it's only 1 year (about time amaro realized one year deals for RPs is the way to go)...and I'm still not sold on bastardo...and they need more than one lefty RP...

As for how he's used...I'll just say I'd have a lot more confidence if a certain HOF 2nd baseman that the phils once traded away was calling the shots

I hope they make willis beat out diekman and savery in spring training. don't just give him a roster spot

haha, yeah man. I like good beer a lot but I can't come close to analyzing it like that, nor do I want to. I want to drink it and enjoy it and not think about it too much.

Don't remember getting the email but saw it was a shit show the past couple days. Didn't they say they were going to fix it after the Wisconsin mess?

yep. apparently they outsourced their ticket purchasing process to a 3rd party. then the same thing happened, the site kept crashing.

the email said they think it's an outside source that is throwing a wrench in the process....they are working with the 3rd party company to re-evalute their re-evaluation.

the pre-sale is off for the europe shows. all of the 10 club tix got tossed into the public sale. that really sucks for those people.

as seinfeld says, 'that's a shame'

    Complete bullshit.

I know Anchor changes their Christmas Beer recipe every year, so I'll have to give it another shot. I couldn't finish the six pack - I think it was 2 years ago.

I did one beer advocate review, but yeah I'm not that far into it.

I liked Fixer's review. "It tasted good and got me drunk."

What in the fuck? Philly Live is called Xfinity Live? That is fucking horrible. I have only been here around 5 years and that pisses me off. Sounds like a giant fucking mall.

Yeah, man. That is brutal. I am sure there will be plenty of cancelled memberships. Isn't the main reason most people are members, tickets? Brutal.

Yeah, they definitely change it up and this is the first year I have had it, but I really enjoyed it. Check it out.

That was a good review. People spend too much time analyzing beer. Drink it and enjoy it.

Yeah so much for Philly Live, should have known they would throw a corporate name on it.

Best thing I saw though - Nick's Roast Beef, mmmmm, yummy :D

Yeah, I saw they are going to have a Nicks Roast beef which is great, and Chickies, and a bunch of other local stuff but then they have shit like the NBC Sports Bar or whatever it is, and a Tex Mex place. Its like they are building a mall and trying to make it local by throwing in a Nicks. Guess I'll have to reserve judgement untilI see it but seems really cheesy.

If I can get a tasty Nick's roast pork there then they can call it whatever they want. We'll just call it some crude nickname anyway. ;)

As much as the name sucks, the places in there actually sound better than I expected. Well, I only say that because of one reason - the Victory Beer Hall. That sounds fucking sweet. I hope the food is as good as their spot in Downingtown.

Victory Beer Hall - PHUCK YEAH! ;) Victory Brewpub is awesome, but so so far.

I wish it was, as opposed to some gimmicky place I would find in a Vegas casino. As long as there's a mechanical bull that intoxicated females can ride then I'm at least a little interested.

Yeah, I didn't realize that that was Victory, what I read didn't say that. That will be very cool. But aside from a food court that is pretty much the only local thing?

Professional Bull Riders? NBC Sports Bar?

I think the places are worse than I expected, aside from the few good ones mentioned.
