it's on my list of death row food ... ... i make a mean fried chicken but if i ate it all the time - it would put me on another kind of death row ...

It's funny how we've been in major arguments and we agree on so much. 8-)

I hear you, I don't eat it very often. I have a lot more cigars and ribeyes than fried chicken. I love that shit though.

Popeye's maybe once a year. My wife hates it, and that limits the trips too. I'd probably go there once a month if I were single. I'm sure the kids will like it when they're bigger, so she might be getting overruled a little more often.

Did you see this when it came out?

You and JP be careful on NYD... :P

Popeyes is good stuff, I'm probably along the same lines of you on that though. when I lived in old city, the pizza shop at the corner of 3rd and Arch had great fried chicken and I would eat that once a month at least. Using kids to get your fried chicken, I like it.

I didn't see that. God damn, I may have to stop by on my way home one of these days. That sounds incredible.

Thanks, not sure careful is in my vocabulary that day though.

I like your style dude. Gotta get them into skiing, will pay off tremendously. Fortunately, I came from a family that loved to ski.

man, I miss that place. loved living at 5th and poplar.

seems like every week some kind of news breaks which makes the howard contract look worse. here is this week's update...amaro really needs to hire a contract specialist

The Brewers' last formal offer to Prince Fielder was for five years, $100 million, in the spring of 2010, but in their conversations recently, they've indicated a willingness to stretch their offer to six years, $120 million.

not sure if it was this link ... but one of the links you posted sent me to a best fried chicken in the states ... one was Pies and Thighs in brooklyn ... well ... emailed the girl last nite as i was heading to the city ... she picked me up in laguardia and off we went ... hahaha

the chicken is very good classic southern fried ... they use naturally raised chickens which is a bonus ... the best part was they don't force you to eat white meat ... haha ... the pies looked good too but we didn't try ... the sides were ok - nothing to write home about ...

    :D

well i'm that guy. we're in the process of renovating our kitchen. new appliances were delivered on thursday.....aaaaaaaaaand naturally i fucked up the measurement for the fridge. oh it fits in it's space. only thing is the door doesn't have any space to open, which apparently is important. need an extra half inch or so which this guy failed to account for. :x  ....and the slightly smaller version of this one won't be in stock until next wednesday. so now we've got this fucking thing sticking out like a sore thumb, blocking 3/4's of the kitchen's door frame for close to 2 weeks.

the wife is none too pleased...at least i got the old kitchen fridge moved downstairs and the old/dead basement fridge hauled away. so the juggler has an operational beer fridge again.

sorry. just needed to rant. i can't wait till all this shit is done. such a pain in the ass.

    Nice job.

now today we were supposed to have the counter tops installed so i took a half day. the installers were supposed to call a half hour before they were to arrive in the 1pm-3pm window.

i leave work at 12:30, no call. so i make a couple stops and take care of some other stuff knowing i can get home in about 20 minutes when they call. no call....

so i get home at 2pm. no call. walk the dog. no call. what the fuck? :x

i check my phone and it's fucking dead. not sure what was wrong with it. the battery was fine but every time i tried calling i got the "call failed" icon. FUCK. turn off and back on---boom. about 10 voice mails from around 1pm. i fucking missed them. and i took out the old counter tops and sink last night. now we have to wait till tuesday for everything to get installed. sink won't get installed till wed or thursday. :x :x :x

fuck me. this weekend is gonna blow.....on the bright side i now have the extra incentive to purchase the new iphone tonight.

If anything it means Raul's definitely gone. Classy move by him to let the Phils offer him arbitration and then decline it(from what I've read/heard that is what's happening).

I always thought they'd move Hanley to center.

It'll make it tough for him to get a deal - nobody's going to give up a draft pick for him are they?

Laynce Nix sucks. The phillies moves this offseason are a bit confusing.

It's a cheap signing, and he should be a decent platoon option. Improvement on last year's LF as well.

Probably have to give J-Roll 5 years in light of the Reyes contract, huh?

Have they said the dollars yet? I haven't seen it. I guess it's an improvement but the guy doesn't even have a .300 OBP.

I don't know. I wouldn't. Reyes had an average of .337 compared to Rollins OBP of .338, last year. I wouldn't go near 5 years. I'm pretty suprised Reyes only signed for 6 years, doesn't seem like it since he's been in the league for so long, but he's only 28.

And the NL East is looking to get a lot tougher in the coming years. Marlins seem like they are serious, Braves have some really good young pitching and the Nationals have some serious potential and are willing to spend. Could get interesting.

love all the action at the winter meetings...

Phillies Are Strong Players For Aramis Ramirez
By Tim Dierkes [December 5 at 9:32am CST]

The Phillies are strong players for free agent third baseman Aramis Ramirez, tweets Joe Capozzi of the Palm Beach Post. A week ago, Ramirez's agent Paul Kinzer named the Angels as one of four or five teams with serious interest in his client, and an offer from the Halos seems likely after Ramirez visited the club. The Brewers are also in the mix. Kinzer said in November that Ramirez seeks a four-year deal or three-year contract with an option.

The Phillies have third baseman Placido Polanco under contract for 2012, though the 36-year-old had double hernia surgery in October.

Would be another 3-4 year contract to a player who will be 34 next season. Phillies gotta get younger, I wouldn't like it.
