9th inning, tie game, no outs, guy on first. lefty-lefty matchup and you have a guy at the plate that's not even hitting his weight. if that's not a perfect spot to bunt I don't know what is

victorino probably scores on that if ibanez bunts him over.

    manuel is a moron

Fair enough, I'm not watching, watching the yanks and following a few games on phone. I just hate the concept of giving up outs.

It's a good thing when a team can play bad and win. Anyone can win when they play good.

'08 spoiled some people i guess.

You guess??? I have friends who had the nerve to say the Phils CHOKED last year in the playoffs! They either forget the Terry Francona years or are fair-weather fans who weren't watching during the Francona years to begin with. I for one will take 4 straight playoff appearances any day.

nah man, you feel that way because you're just incredibly negative. seriously seems like 90% of your posts, in all threads, are negative. life's too short, my friend.

if you get to the point where you cannot enjoy/get excited about the regular season of the best team in the league, as frustrating as they are at times, because you're afraid of what might happen in october...that's kind of sad actually. '08 spoiled some people i guess.

The line about negativity in all posts is funny. You would realize this isn't true if you followed all of the philly teams instead of watching 2,235 TV shows. I was pimping the flyers more than anyone this year. I'm negative in the sixers thread because, really, there is nothing to be excited about. A 500 season isn't reason for celebration (unless you are overly optimistic).

Isn't this team supposed to win it all? anything else will be a disappointment. don't know how you can disagree with that.

    Holy shit, a hit

    good god you're annoying.

congrats on "pimping" the flyers. that worked out well. seemed every time i look in that thread you're arguing with someone there too. maybe i'm wrong. not a hockey guy. :D

we agree the phils are the best team in the nl. that is realistic. yes, not winning it all will be a disappointment. doesn't mean folks can't enjoy/appreciate how good this team is/has been/hopefully will be.

and no, a .500 season isn't a reason for celebration. but predicting a .500 season is realistic. you're confusing having realistic expectations/appreciation for living up to expectations with being overly optimistic somehow. :? good job there.

    agreed.

dom brown had 4 very good at bats tonight. that's the best thing to come out of this game.

howard's play at first in the 5th (i think it was the 5th) was pretty sweet too.

atlanta's down 2....hopefully that sticks and we go up 5 games again....GO PHILS.

I said it at the ballpark right before a groundout. Oh well. He played some sweet defense. 8-) Ubaldo got his 3rd win. :P And Huston St gets the save.

I was on so many rants about Ibanez not bunting and Victorino not stealing and Chooch not batting... Cliffy Ibanez is worse than a pitcher. That's why we think he should've bunted. Sure enough he made an unproductive out.

haha, yeah yeah. I only saw the last couple innings of the Yanks game but Ubaldo looked pretty good from what I saw.

I hear you with Ibanez I guess, especially late in a game. Like I said, it's just so hard for me to think giving up an out is a good play. I do hear you in the situation though, I guess.

EV's setlist last night = phils lineup. Drive All Night would have been awesome if there weren't 800 people on stage. No Immortality was disappointing. Blah night all around

That's all absolutely ridiculous. Except for the part about Immortality. Pretty sure there were 3 people on stage for Drive All Night. The saxophonist was fairly essential. ;)

seen EV solo almost 10 times. last night's setlist was by far the worst. at least I didn't have to watch another 4 hit effort by the phils stellar lineup

Check this out. A dude I went to high-school with (who unfortunately had his left arm blown off in Afghanistan a few years ago) made good use of his other arm by making this sweet foul-ball catch at Yankee Stadium over the weekend:

Ho Hum. 8 straight wins in Doc starts.

and another series win. now time for our annual ass-kicking by the Red Sox. although they did just lose 2 out 3 to the Pirates and 4 out of 5.

was down at the game friday night and saw a dude in Ashburn Alley before the game with a Phils jersey with Vedder 10 on it. Was wondering if that was anyone here.

over/under on time for Tuesday's Beckett-Lee game is about 2 hours and 20 minutes. Scored only 5 against the A's and not sure we get that many against the Red Sox but unless your name is Fixer it's not how many runs you score just that you score more than your opponent more often than not. :D

Ha, that's awesome. I sat behind that guy on Saturday night. That jersey was decked out.

Just saw Hamels was moved up to Thursday, which is great news, since that's the game I'm going to. :D

Tuesday: Josh Beckett vs. Cliff Lee - WOW
Wednesday: John Lackey vs. Vance Worley - like I said, let's not fix up another pitcher
Thursday: Jon Lester vs. Cole Hamels

I think we've got a good shot at taking this series. 8-) We've lost, what, 25 straight Red Sox series?
