No but Bernie hit a double and Tino hit a home run in the old timers game. They may be able to help out that offense of yours.

nah we got a stud 1st basemen and pretty good centerfielder already. got any spare left and right fielders though, preferably right handed?

hmnn beat the phils in the ws and are ahead of the red sox this year with a bunch of past rejects...just saying

not to mention the phils have zero competition....and as soon as a good AL team comes in you are already saying you will probably lose 2 of 3

it's not that we can't beat the AL teams we just never seem to beat the Red Sox. for some reason they kick our ass every year. the Pirates do the same thing to us. it's just some teams have your number.

doesn't bode well considering the sox have a decent shot to get to the ws

Here's the dismal history (Red Sox have won last 8 series):

1915 World Series (Baker Bowl and Braves Field): Red Sox 4, Phillies 1
    1997 (Fenway Park): Sox 3, Phils 0
    1998 (Fenway): Phils 2, Sox 0
1998 (Veterans Stadium): Phils 1, Sox 1 (they played these 4 games consecutively, in 2 different ballparks)
    1999 (Fenway): Phils 2, Sox 1
    2000 (Vet): Phils 3, Sox 0
    2001 (Fenway): Sox 2, Phils 1
2003 (Vet): Phils 2, Sox 1 (3rd game was makeup on Labor Day where Sox salvaged the "series")
    2004 (Fenway): Sox 2, Phils 1
    2005 (Citizens Park): Sox 3, Phils 0
    2006 (Citizens): Sox 2, Phils 1
    2006 (Fenway): Sox 3, Phils 0
    2008 (Citizens): Sox 2, Phils 1
    2009 (Citizens): Sox 2, Phils 1
    2010 (Citizens): Sox 2, Phils 1
    2010 (Fenway): Sox 2, Phils 1

    Phils record:
    Baker Bowl 1-2
Braves Field 0-2 (they played the World Series here b/c this park fit more people)
    Fenway: 7-13
    Vet: 6-2 :?

so 11-24 between Fenway and CBP, that's brutal. and their fans are so nice to be around

Bernie would probably be better in a corner outfield spot at this point and is a switch hitter. And, he isn't even retired yet.

Couldn't be any worse that what we have. It would be nice to get offense out of a corner outfielder. (and defense) :(

2 wins though and i'll take that. i'd rather win 3-1 than lose 11-9. of course you are an american league guy so you probably prefer your 5 hours 11-9 games. phils games have become shorter than PJ concerts.

    of course...

and i have no problem with low scoring games..but i'am sure you would rather the score be 8-1 over 3-1

well when Halladay, Lee and Hamels are fully on 3-1 is not much different than 8-1 other than it takes an hour less to play the game :D . They could still be playing from yesterday and the A's weren't getting to 3 against Halladay.

They needed a miracle to get one run.

A's have good pitching. Probably better than Red Sox, actually. It was bound to be a low-scoring, fast games type of series.

Madsen was just placed on DL, retroactively to June 18 I think

just in time for the Sox series. :x

I'm going on Thursday, Hamels vs. Lester, should be one hell of a game.

just saw that about Madson. this bullpen is getting ugly. i think this puts him back in time for the Braves series at the end of next week though.

Isn't this team's record irrelevant? We know they are most likely going to playoffs. Those who pretend like the offense isn't going to be a problem in the playoffs are kidding themselves. Remember last year? The offense was the reason they were upset. This year's lineup is much worse than last year's.

Bullpen should be sweet while madson and oswalt are out too.

RAJ has 4 weeks to upgrade these obvious weaknesses. Hopefully he can.

Fuck the red sox. I hope utley hits a line drive off beckett's face tonight
