Denzel Washington.
I really liked this movie.

It sure did start out with a bang. I was surprised how much I liked the movie...im not a big Denzel fan. Seems he's alwyas pointing a gun at someone. :geek: But he was great in this movie. My wife said the movie and Denzel made her uncomfortable but she liked the movie too.
the most troubling part about watching that movie is that in some respects - not a whole lot has changed ... oppression and exploitation ... except these days - it's not done with whips ...
overall the movie was pretty good ... excellent performances by michael fassbender and lupita nyong'o ... does miss on a few things for me tho ... like brad pitt's accent ... not sure what that is supposed to be ...

I enjoyed this one a lot. After I saw it, I think I may have commented in this thread that I talked about it with my sister, who is a recovering alcoholic. I'd wondered about him coming clean during the hearing near the end and if that was realistic (even though it's what you want him to do). She told me no way, that the more that's at stake for an alcoholic, the more outrageous risks they'll take. She also told me that airline pilots and surgeons have their own AA groups because the things they discuss freak out other alcoholics.
Like I really needed to learn that.

Yeah, i was in on that conversation and said that k really liked the movie, but found the ending really unbelievable. Also said that i get them having their own AA because if i was in AA and heard a doctor or a pilot telling tales of operating or flying while drunk I'd run straight to the police, anonymous group or not.

I remember! I'm going to have a really hard time every time I'm on a plane from now on.
Not terrible, but thought it could have been a lot better given the interesting concept.

Starbuck.
I loved it. It is a 2011 French Canadian flick with English subtitles on netflix streaming. Its about a guy who donates sperm and finds out he fathered 533 kids who want to know who he is. it was awesome.
I learned that there is a Hollywood movie that is a scene-for-scene remake coming out starring Vince Vaughn called Delivery guy or something like that.
"...Dimitri...He talks to me...'.."The Ghost of Greece..".
"..That's One Happy Fuckin Ghost.."
“..That came up on the Pillow Case...This is for the Greek, With Our Apologies.....”

Delivery Man.It's not supposed to be a scene-for-scene but it's directed by the same guy.
Last film was l'Homme qui plantait des arbres. Un chef-d'oeuvre!
super long and if half the stuff is true, what the fuck?
Have you watched the documentary about it? I think it's called "JFK: The Day That Changed the World" (or something like that).... that is even more surprising, and contains interviews of witnesses and ex Secret Service members and cops, etc. Pretty shocking stuff, really.

I have not but would like to. Thanks for the suggestion.

I think I actually have the title seriously confused with something else... sorry. Maybe it's called JFK The Smoking Gun?? Or JFK assasination - definitive theories or something? or... ... Just saw it on TV a couple weeks ago, but am getting mixed up with all the other stuff about it that's also on right now. I am no help at all suddenly. But it was very good, and if I figure out what it's called I'll let you know. :P

What are you talking about, man? I think this is a movie to be considered for Oscar nomination. It has all the elements for an OScar kind of movie.
I also claim Hugh Jackman will be nominated, as well.
Not a fan of Jake Gylenhaal, though.
What's your part, who you are?

Cool, cool.
Also, I had myself a mini movie day.
J. Edgar. Robin Hood and That Thing You Do!
J Edgar kind of sucked. It was boring and would have been better if it had more to do with him building the FBI into what it became instead of focusing on his private life (which is still up to debate).
Robin Hood (with Russell Crowe) sure plays fast and loose with history and a famous folk tale. So, it sucked as far as I'm concerned. And I love the Robin Hood Tales, the Bbc television show is worth it of you haven't say down and way he it.
That Thing You Do! Is my second favorite Tom Hanks movie (the first being The Burbs) and the story is great, entertaining fun. This dragged me out of the funk the first two movies left me in today.
My wife said the movie and Denzel made her uncomfortable but she liked the movie too.
There were some scenes where Denzel was drunk that were hard to watch for me as well. I think especially if you have personal experiences with an alcoholic there are some parts that are difficult to watch. I saw it with friends but not at the theater at someone's house, which I regretted cuz I kept having to hide my face!

Compliance. It's based on true events, and thus the most fucked up disturbing movie I've ever seen. Based specifically on a mcdonalds in Kentucky. A call comes in saying from a man saying he is a cop, and that one of the employees stole something. He's asks the manager on duty to bring the 18 year old girl into her office and strip search her when the store gets busy she calls In Her 50 something fiancé to come watch the girl. Gets more disturbing from there
